"Atlas breathe please!" I wrap my arm around her, lifting her up and raising her off the bathroom floor.
I walked in here, a few minutes ago and Atlas is panicking, there's Scratches all over her body from where's she's picked her skin dry and I've never, ever seen her get this bad.
"Ev I can't breathe" she says, staring out in front of her and gasping for breathe.
"Hey look at me, in and out." She turns her eyes toward me and slows her breaths, and slowly, she calms herself down.
"I'm so sorry." She cries and I hold her, shaking my head and shushing her.
"Stop apologizing." Seeing her like this, it's so painful. I'm not sure what got her all worked up and I won't push her to tell me until she's ready, I just don't want to see her like this.
"Baby your parents called, I had to tell them, I'm sorry."
She shakes her head "I know. So what, hospital?"
I nod solemnly and she grabs my arm to steady herself as she stands, the scrapes on her thighs making it hard to walk.
"Love." I sigh and she looks back at me, I just look at her and it feels like she can read my mind.
"I know. I know. I don't even know what happened." She says and I smile softly
" I know. Come on." I hold out my hand and she takes it, I lead her down the stairs and out to my car, her voice unsteady and shaky every time she speaks and it breaks my heart in two.

"Wait so what happened?" Carlos asks atlas for the 1000th time
"Dad, let me explain this again. I don't know."
"One second I was fine and then suddenly I'm on the floor and I have no clue what happened in between."
" Yeah Alright." Carlos backs down and River rubs her forehead in frustration. The doctor walks in with a clipboard and Carlos jumps out of his chair, the concern written all over his face.
I grip Atlas's hand tighter from the side of the hospital bed, when we got here they made her go into some testing for some heart concerns but I'm sure she's fine.
"Alright so Mr and Mrs, white."
"Your daughter has some abnormal thickening in her heart, it looks a lot to us like Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy."
Atlas's face changes, all of ours do.
"That sounds serious, what is it?" I say and the doctor looks over at me
"We'll, to put it in the simplest terms, it makes the muscle in the heart thick, making it hard and uncomfortable for the heart to pump blood."
River gasps and Carlos sighs loudly
"What? What it." Atlas asks, panicked.
"Atlas-" River starts but the doctor interrupts us
"I'll give you four some privacy." He closes the door behind him and River has tears on her cheeks
"Mom?" Atlas asks and sits upright
"Oh Atlas I'm so sorry." River starts to sob and Carlos rubs her back
"Honey, your brother, he had the same condition." Carlos says for River and suddenly my head really hurts.
