Chapter 9: Little Talks

Just like he had promised Kai picked Aria up at 8 am for her "Birthday surprise".

It was way to early for Arias taste but she was ready none the less. Dressed in black skinny jeans, dark green over knee boots, green sweater in the same colour and a furry jean jacket, she hopped into the car.

The footballer greeted her with a smile that she couldn't help but to return.

He pulled out of the parking spot and started driving.

"Any chance you're going to tell me where we're headed?" Aria asked him.

"Not a chance."

"Idiot" She muttered under her breath but loud enough for him to hear.

"What was that?" Kai asked her ginning

"Nothing." Aria answered with innocent eyes.

"I think you just called me an idiot."

"I did not!"

"Yes you did."

"No"

Their bickering went on for a few more minutes before Kai held up his hands in surrender. "Fine" He laughed.

The two fell quiet after that. Trying to break the silence Kai flicked through the music channels until he settled with an old 80s radio station.

Arias face light up. Laughing, she started singing along with the lyrics.

"And you say. Ain't nothin' gonna to break my stride. Nobody gonna slow me down, oh no, I got to keep on movin'"

She was so off key, it caused Kai to worriedly look over to her.

"Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride, I'm running and I won't touch ground. Oh no, I got to keep on movin'" He joined her.

That's how they spend the whole rest of the drive and Aria found out that Kai had an amazing singing voice.

Eventually they pulled up in front of a building. "You're not claustrophobic, are you?" Kai asked her.

"No" Aria said, eyeing him suspiciously.

"Great." He said cheerfully. And they got out of the car.

The young actress got even more suspicious. Then realization drew to her. "No. Nononono. Don't tell me we're doing an escape room."

"Sorry to disappoint." Kai said with a bright grin.

Aria groaned. "I'm never allowing you to surprise me again."

The footballer shrugged "It's gonna be worth it."

They checked in and were now standing in front of the door.

"You ready?" Kai asked.

"No." Came Arias answer from behind him. He chuckled.

"Great let's go." And the footballer pulled her after him.

It was pitch black in the room.

"You said this was an Escape room not hell." Aria whisper-shouted. Kai laughed again.

He felt Arias body pressing against his from behind, her clutching his hoodie.

The door fell shut behind them with a loud bang. Aria shrieked and Kai yelled out in shock, both of them jumping into each others arms.
