Chapter 23: I'm coming home

Arias flight landed shortly after five thirty in the morning. She was tired and drained from the stress of the past weeks.

Permanent eye bags has settled under her eyes and at some point she had given up, trying to cover them.

Cursing like a trooper she pulled her two huge suitcases behind her.

Aria was surprised when she stepped through the doors and Kai was waiting for her.

Actually, Kai wasn't supposed to be here because Chelsea was playing Real Madrid today and the players were supposed to get a good nights rest.

"You shouldn't be here."

Arias words made Kai look up from his phone, where he had absentmindedly scrolled through Instagram.

"Aria!" He breathed out and moments later they were entangled in a tight hug.

And no matter what had been going on the past few weeks in her life, this was the moment where Aria completely and utterly relaxed.

"Let's get you home." Kai finally mumbled and pushed her away slightly.

Effortlessly he pulled both her suitcases after him through the airport and to his car.

"Thomas is going to rip your head off when he hears that you came picking me up." Aria laughed silently. "Scratch that. He'll probably rip my head off."

"The only head that's getting ripped off today is Madrid's." Kai answered and glanced over to Aria, who had a light smile on her face.

It was something he hadn't seen in quite a while. Smiling to himself he laid his hand on her knee in a comforting manner, where it lingered for the rest of the car ride.

It burnt the skin under Aria's sweatpants but she didn't dare taking it away.

It was almost 6 when they arrived in their apartment in London.

"Let's get a few hours of sleep." Kai suggested and Aria gladly nodded. He was about the enter his bedroom when her hand stopped him.

"Nightmare help?" She questioned, glancing up at him.

Laughing, the footballer picked her up, bridal style and threw her on the bed, where she snuggled into the duvets.

He got in after her, cuddling closer to her and wrapping his arms securely around her.

"I can't even begin to tell you how much I missed you." Aria mumbled, sleep already overtaking most of her brain.

The actress was barely able to hear Kai's response.

But only barely.

"I can Aria. Because I've missed you twice as much."

And the last thing the felt before the sleep completely took her out, was Kai brushing a strand of hair out of her face and planting a soft kiss on her forehead.

Kai left two hours later for training but didn't dare waking Aria up. She was laying so peacefully next and he knew for a fact that this was the best rest she had in a long time.

Entangling himself from her body he silently got up and pulled out his training kits.

"Where you going?" Aria mumbled, sleepily sitting up. Kai let out a breath he was holding in.

"I'm heading to training."

"Can I come with you?"

The footballer looked at Aria. Really, she was in no state to come. "Please stay here. You need rest."

But Aria had already gotten up and walked out of the door to her room, nearly walking against the frame, when her brain calculated the distance wrong.

Kai let out an exhausted sigh and went back to packing.

Fifteen minutes later they sat in the car, both with huge cups of coffee. Kai couldn't keep himself from looking over at Aria from time to time.

She looked like she just got out of bed, the only thing that changed was that she quickly brushed through her hair so now there was a bun on her head instead of a ponytail.

She's so perfect.

Kai frowned to himself. And she's also your best friend!

They were a little late when they pulled up in front of the training center. "We'll just say the traffic was bad."

But Aria was already out the car making her way to the entrance. Kai chuckled, grabbed his back and followed her.

Instead of going to the stands like usual, Aria marched the way to the changing rooms. Kai hastily caught up with her when he noticed.

"You can't be here."

The woman looked up when he blacked her way. "Well obviously I can. I am going to say hello to the others." She pushed him out of her way.

"Is everybody decent?" She asked knocking on the door of the changing room. There was a very feminine sounding screech from inside that made Arias eyes widen and look over at a clueless Kai. "3...2...1... whoever isn't dressed now is not worth checking out anyway!"

And she pushed open the door. "Mason!" She screeched when she laid eyes on the man.

"Aria!" He called back, mimicking her night pitched voice.

The girl jumped in his arms and he lifted her, spinning her around once before setting her down. Aria giggled. "I missed you idiot!" And she playfully shoved him.

"That is my nickname." Kai said pointedly and subconsciously pulled Aria away from Mason slightly.

The girl laughed and ruffled through his hair. "Nope you're my soulmate."

Mason watched the whole encounter and exchanged a knowing smirk with Tammy.

"So who of you screamed like a maiden in underskirts?" Aria asked amused, looking around.

All of them sent pointed looks at Mason, who innocently looked at Ben, who shook his head.

"It was Mason!" Chilly accused. "You should've seen his face when he recognized your voice."

Mason held his hand up in surrender. "Well I haven't seen you in almost three months!"

If Aria wanted to reply anything she didn't get the chance because that moment Thomas busted into the changing room. "What is going on here? I'm waiting for you at the pitch!"

He frowns when he sees Aria. "Aria. What are you doing here?"

Opening and closing her mouth like a fish Aria tried to come up with an excuse. "They kidnapped me!" And she gestured at the twenty something footballers in the changing rooms.

This caused an uproar of denies to break loose.

Thomas Tuchlel just massaged his temples. "You're coming with me, young lady." And he gently but surely pulled her after him out of the door.

He didn't see Aria sticking out her tongue at the men.
