Chapter 17: Friends of mine

_*_*_

Arias departure was... hectic, to say the least.

"Did you bring your toothbrush?" Aria didn't bother answering Masons question so he just turned to Kai, who was driving the car.

"Did she bring her toothbrush?" - "Yes, she did."

"Did she pack enough money?" - "Yes."

"Does she have her passports?" - "Yes, Mason, she has."

Why Mason wanted to get up at three in the morning to accompany them to the Airport? Ask something easier.

"Did you guys turn off all the lights?" - "I'll turn them off when I get back if I have to." Kai sounded very tired and Masons chatter didn't help.

It was all sweet and caring but it gave Arias tired brain a headache.

"Mason can you please just shut up?" She asked him desperately. "You sound like a mother."

"Yeah obviously, when you're someone who needs to be taken care of so much."

"Fuck off Mount."

He laughed but thankfully stayed silent for the rest of the car ride.

Arias flight was supposed to leave at seven in the morning and it was currently four. It turned out that both, Kai and Mason were the kind of people who arrive at the airport three hours before the flight was leaving.

Aria wasn't.

The number of times she almost missed the flight was embarrassing. That led to Aria still sleeping at three thirty when Kai wanted to leave.

No, he wasn't very happy when he came to check if Aria was ready to go and found her still soundly sleeping.

There was only so long Mason could stay quiet. So when they were waiting in line for giving away the luggage he blurted out. "Tammy and Andrea broke up."

That actually caused Aria to look up. "Wait really?" Mason nodded. "And you're only telling me this now?"

Kai rolled his eyes. "You two, I swear." But neither one of them took notice of his remark. "Why did they break up?" Aria asked.

"I think she just didn't want the WAG title anymore. She broke up."

"Understandable." Aria pulled a face. "WAG... I Never liked that term." Kai was scrolling through his Instagram but that had sparked his interest. He started subconsciously listening into their conversation.

Mason has seen his eyes flutter over to them for a second and how he was mindlessly scrolling through his feed. To fast to actually look at something.

"So you wouldn't get together with a footballer because you don't want the WAG title?" He asked Aria, knowing that Kai was still listening.

Aria shook her head. "If it's the right person it is the right person. I just don't want people reducing me on being someone's girlfriend or Wife." Her eyes fluttered over to Kai over just a moment he was met with his gaze. Quickly she looked away. "I am my own person."

Mason Mount had seen the small exchange of glances between his two friends and he could barely fight down a knowing smile.

The group fell silent then until a small girl came up to them and tugged on Arias sleeve. She couldn't be over the age of eight.
