Chapter 37: Ramenez la coupe à la maison
Evidently Aria was more nervous than Kai on the morning of June 15th.
Why? Ask something easier.
It's not like she had to be the mascot (they gave that job back to the person who was initially supposed to do it), nor was she part of the team, crew staff or medical team.
"Aria all you have to do is sit around and look pretty." Kai laughed
Aria glared at him. "What of you get hurt? I won't be able to be there for you." She asked persistently.
"There is a whole team of skilled meds that will take care of me if I should get hurt."
The girl pulled a face and thought about another reason she couldn't let go of Kai's hand. "Okay. Well what if you..." she pondered over a question. "What if you score? I won't be able to congratulate you."
"I will find you in the crowd and you can congratulate me afterwards."
"Okay well what if I get lonely?"
Kai gave her an bitch-are-you-fucking-serious-look. "Lonely?"
Aria shrugged in defense. "It could be!"
"The last thing you will be today is lonely."
"Okay well what-"
Kai interrupted her laughing. "Aria I should be the one nervous."
She sighed. "Okay whatever." Then she smiled. "This is so exciting."
Kai laughed lightly and shook his head at the sudden change of mood of the girl. "Okay well if you're good to go, the others are already waiting for us probably."
Aria giggled and started running towards where the team bus was, pulling Kai after her.
They arrived just on time and Jogi sent them a pointed look. Aria mouthed 'sorry' but she wasn't really.
The two had a really intense talk after their fight yesterday and were now all civil and good again.
Just like father and daughter.
Aria's accidental mistake of calling Jogi 'dad' was pointedly ignored and she couldn't say she was sad about it.
They stumbled into the bus, giggling stupidly.
Joshua waved them over to where he sat with a really pretty woman Aria figured to be Lina.
She smiled quickly to them before she dropped down on the window seat and Kai sat down on the aisle seat.
Leon gasped in fake horror from where he was sitting behind Joshua on the window row. Kai raised a confused eyebrow.
Leon scoffed. "How ignorant of you Kai. We purposefully sat on the window seat so Lina, Mathea and Aria can get to know each other."
Aria bent forward a little at the mention of her name. Lina happily waved at her and Mathea offered her a beaming smile.
"Well I'm sorry not all of us can be ickle as Joshua." Kai teased. Joshua was about to defend himself when Aria beat him to it.
She put an hand on Kai's arm but looked at Joshua and Leon. "I'm sure we'll have plenty of time meeting each other today."
Lina and Mathea were quick to agree.
