Epilogue
"GERMANY WINS THE WORLD CUP! FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2014, GERMANY WINS!" the exciting screams of the commentator, were drowned out from the screams of millions of fans.
"I CANT BELIEVE IT, JUST ONE YEAR AFTER THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP, GERMANY WINS AGAIN!" It was deafening.
Somewhere next to Aria, Lina was shrieking. Joshua had scored the final goal with assistance from Kai, and on Arias other side Mathea, Leon's girlfriend was cheering twice as loud. All three of their partners had scored tremendous goals, leading them to win against Brazil with a beautiful 3:1.
The music was loud and down on the pitch the whole team was celebrating. Tears of joy and proudness streamed down Arias face.
All she wanted to to was fly into Kais arms but it seemed like half an eternity passed before family members and friends were finally allowed onto the pitch.
Stumbling down the steps to the pitch Aria tired to find Kai. She had lost him in the crowd during the celebration and without her glasses she was unable to spot him.
"Kais over there!" Joshua said, walking past Aria and pointing into the general direction of the back.
"Thanks! And congratulations!" Aria called after him.
Elbowing her way through the mass of couples she marched over to where Kai was supposed to be. And finally she saw him.
His eyes were searching the crowd on the pitch in front of him for Aria.
"Kai!" He head her voice over all the cheering and saw her running towards him. He extended his arms to catch her but just like one year ago, Aria pulled his face down for kiss instead of a hug.
Happily smiling he kissed her back. "You won the World Cup, Idiot!" Aria laughed into the kiss.
Kai just nodded and laughed. His mind was going a hundred miles a second.
The thought back to the evening a few weeks ago.
"Would you marry me if I was the last person on earth?" Kai asked Aria, one evening while they were cuddled up against each other.
Aria smiled and lifted her head from his chest. "Well if you're the only person left, I couldn't marry you."
Kai scoffed. "You ruined the moment."
The girl chuckled and sat up. She gave him a delicate peck on the lips. "Kai I would marry you right now if I could."
Kai opened his eyes and looked over Aria's shoulders at his team mates. They had pushed their girlfriends and wives aside and and formed two lines.
Joshua nodded. Then called "Oi Aria!"
The girl separated herself from Kai, who stepped away and Aria turned around.
Confused she eyed the eight men standing there.
Then, on cue they all lifted their jerseys to each reveal a letter.
Speechless Aria read them.
Joshua - M, Leon - A, Jamal - R. Wide eyed Aria read the rest. Thomas - R and Manu - Y and the row below, Leroy- M and lastly Serge with the E.Jogi smiled proudly and lifted his shirt to reveal a question mark.
Arias jaw met the floor. "'Marry me?'... Kai what is this?" Aria mumbled confused, turning around.
And her hands flew to her mouth. Kai was down on one knee looking up at her.
"Arianna Webster. I might've won the World Cup today, but my biggest prize has always been you." He took a deep breath. "So what do you say? Marry me?"
And he pulled out a beautiful ring. Three silver strings were wrapping themselves around several jade stones. It looked like a braid with beads.
"Oh my god Kai..." Aria breathed out. "Of- of course I'm saying yes!"
The footballer let out a relived sigh and got up. Surrounded by the applause of the whole stadium Kai put the ring on her hand.
Aria planted a sweet Kiss on his lips. It all felt like a dream but Aria had no intention of waking up again.
Because right now reality was better than dreams.

Hours later, the celebrations had died down and Aria and Kai were laying in their hotel room.
Aria admired the ring on her finger. "You like it?" Kai whispered and the girl looked up from where her head was resting on his chest. "Are you kidding? I love it!"
"I'm glad you do."
Aria fully sat up, now straddling him, while he was still laying in the bed. The woman leaned down and kissed him.
"How were you so sure I'd say yes?"
Kai chuckled lightly. "Oh believe me, I wasn't. I fact, my nerves were practically going through the roof."
With a questioning face Aria looked down at him. Her hair was framing her face and created a curtain between the two of them and the rest of the world.
"That Night a week ago? When you came back from partying with Lina and Mathea?" Kai started with a smile. Aria nodded, remembering.
"You were pretty drunk that night but when I helped you getting into the bed..." he trailed off. The woman on top of him shoved him slightly.
"What did I do?"
"Well you said..." Kai husked, brushing a delicate finger down her collar bone. "That I should hurry the fuck up and put a ring on your finger."
Arias eyes widened and Kai laughed lightly. "I was thinking about proposing for quite a while but I was never sure. After that night, I was." He sat up so he was on eye level with his fiancée.
A smile was playing around Arias lips. "Well you know what they say..." she mumbled into another kiss. "Drunken words are sober feelings."
She pushed Kai back into the cushions, straddling him again. The footballer couldn't do much more than hum in reply because Arias lips had the same effect on him that they had from the beginning.
He deepened the kiss and felt Aria pressing herself even closer against him until there was nothing except for the fabric of her crop top separating them.
Neither one of them had any intention of stopping where this was going.
If there had ever been any doubt, Aria knew after this day that Kai was something very special.
And even thought they too, had their slight downs in their relationship, they had twice as many ups.
He had found his happily ever after with her and gave her something many people would kill for.
A life she loved. A life worth living.
And that's how it ended. The story, destiny had predicted.
