Chapter 25: Unconditional
"Mason let me gooo!"
"No!"
"We're gonna miss our flight Mase!"
"Even better"
Aria laughed, as far as that was possible with literally no air in her lungs because Mason was squeezing it all out.
Finally, with Kai's help she pulled herself out of his embrace. Mason pouted. "Traitor." Then he turned to Kai. "I want a rematch."
Laughing, Kai shook his head. "There ain't no way in hell that you're getting a rematch."
Kai and Mason had actually played Rock, Paper, scissors about who gets to take Aria to the Euros and Kai had won.
Mason was begging him for a rematch ever since.
The two had been talking about vacation in Germany for weeks and Kai had invited Aria to come with him to Germany after Chelsea had their final match in the Champions league.
Of course she agreed, having promised him to tag along, back in February.
"I'll see you at the Euros Mason, I promise."
"But who will you be rooting for if England and Germany play against each other?"
Kai had already gone through the security and was urging Aria to come along. "Saved by the bell I guess." She laughed and hugged her friend. "I'll call you every day!"
"We both know you won't!" Mason called after her, as she was running to catch up with Kai. As an answer she just made a rude hand gesture that caused Mason to laugh too.
Aria waved at him one last time before she disappeared to the gate, following Kai.
They arrived just in time for boarding and Kai sent Aria a pointed look. The girl just shrugged in response and sent him an innocent smile.
Of course Kia was awake at six already, if their flight was leaving at 12 pm and he was stressing Aria so much that she eventually gave in and got up.
At eight.
Much to Kai's dismay.
Aria sunk into her seat and placed her head on Kai's shoulder, still being a little hungover from last night. Her head was pounding again, even though she took some Aspirin, so she closed her eyes.
Kai offered her to watch a movie but she claimed she wanted to sleep.
The footballer would have taken offense to that statement, had he not seen the suspicious tears glistening in her eyes.
Aria was actually so tired she fell asleep ten minutes into the flight.
Kai watched her, peacefully sleeping and his mind drifted back to last night. He remembered the kiss perfectly well and he had been scared of how the morning would be, if Aria remembered it just as clearly.
But she was so wasted she didn't remember anything so the kiss was just something Kai buried deep in his heart in hopes he would forget about it.
Caught up in his thoughts he too, fell asleep eventually.

Aria stirred awake when the flight attendant announced their arrival.
She slightly shook Kai, who bolted awake at her slightest touch.
"Nightmare?" She questioned him with a soft look in her eyes.
Kai cleared his throat and pulled down his shirt a little "Something like that."
"We're about to land." Aria informed him silently.
They got off and easily got through security and the rest. Aria was shifting anxiously, while they were waiting for their luggage.
"Is everything alright?" Kai asked concerned and Aria looked up. She nodded quickly. "Just a little nervous about meeting your family."
"They're gonna love you. I fact, I know they already do."
This didn't ease Arias nerves one bit but in that moment she spotted her luggage and pushed the thoughts away.
Kai lead the way as he knew the Aachen airport very well and Aria was trailing a few steps behind him, nervously looking around.
They stepped through the doors and Kai was almost immediately tackled into a hug by his sister. Smiling, Aria just stood there and watched the encounter between the two siblings.
Kai's mother stood a few steps away and watched her two children with teary eyes. She then too, hugged Kai, who wrapped his mom in his arms.
Almost a year had passed since he last saw his family and he was happy to be back home.
The footballer stepped aside a little when his mother pulled away. "Mom. Lea. This is Aria." The two women adverted their gazes to the petite brunette standing next to Kai.
Before Aria could react, Kai's mom, Emma pulled Aria into a hug. A little perplex Aria didn't knw what to do but then hugged the woman back.
Lea too, gave Aria a quick squeeze and a content smile. Aria's heart warmed at the sight of such a loving family.
They had talked on multiple occasions when Aria bombed their phone calls and she'd been texting back and forth with Lea, as it turned out that the woman was a big fan of Aria.
On the drive back home, Aria absentmindedly watched Kai who animatedly talked to his mother in German.
An adoring smile had dead settled on her face.
You could see just how much his family meant to Kai by the way he was literally glowing in their presence.
Lea, who sat in the back, next to Aria saw the love of the girl in her eyes and she too couldn't be happier that her brother found someone who loved him so unconditionally.
The blonde woman knew that they were 'just friends' but you just had to take one close look at the way these two were acting around each other and you could see that they were absolutely and madly in love.
Aria couldn't understand a word Kai was saying, Leah was sure, but not once had she eyes for anything else.
There had been one moment at the airport where Kai had excused himself to go to the toilet before their drive home and when he left, Aria's attitude completely changed. She was nervous and lost and had been shifting around uncomfortably.
But the moment her brothers laugh could be heard again, Lea saw how Aria instantly relaxed.
It amazed the German, how just the other ones voice could comfort Kai and Aria.
