A few days had passed since the funeral, luckily Hardin's pack lost only three wolves. They didn't have pups, or mates, which meant they didn't leave anyone behind in that sense. It's sad a hard loss, the pack mourn the full day of the burial, and hunt during that night until dawn.

"Let me clean it." I tut at him, brushing his hand away from the partially gaping wound on his stomach.

If you think the Alphas didn't struggle taking Roman and pinning him down, they did, none of them walked away without a scratch. It seems the wounds don't heal as fast coming from a far more powerful Alpha.

"I couldn't help but notice you were cutting it a little close the other day." I decide to bring it up, recalling how close Roman was to giving me his bite.

Hardin's eyes flicker to mine, a slight grin on his face. "Maybe I took a moment to enjoy watching you squirm."

I slap his bicep and roll my eyes, knowing he's lying through his teeth. He only enjoys watching me squirm when he's tickling the living crap out of me, or teasing me in the bedroom.

"No, I...the sight of you in that dress just got me for a minute." He admits in a more serious tone.

"Got you in your feels?" I tease him, covering the wound back up as I finish cleaning it.

Hardin just chuckles quietly. "Something like that." He shrugs.

"When I saw Layla's wedding, and everything you'd done for her...I wondered why I didn't have that, what made her better than me." I tell him honestly.

"Kat-" He immediately tries to explain, but I hold up my hand.

"No, it's ok. I get it now...I wouldn't want that, I don't want that. I want something personal, and unique to us. Our first marriage wasn't ideal, but it was personal to you and I get that now." I say with a nod, understanding why he did it the way it happened.

The tradition is unique to his family, his pack.

"Guess it's a good thing we've already done it once." Hardin muses, giving me a slight nudge with his elbow.

"What do you mean?" I question curiously, not understanding why I feel like there's a hidden message behind his words.

"I've regretted the way it happened for a long time, I guess I'm glad we're divorced in a way. If, and when we decide to do it again, it'll be everything you've ever dreamed it to be." Hardin says softly, his tone firm as he makes this oath.

I'd be lying if I said my heart didn't melt just a little, knowing that he does intend to marry me one day. I guess it kind of makes me feel secure, like he's definitely not planning to leave me.

"I love you, so much." I whisper to him like it's our secret, resting my head on his arm.

"I love you." He murmurs, kissing the top of my head.

Just like that everything feels...normal, our normal anyway.

With Hardin on the mend, I step up and deliver on my side of the deal. Training the wolves, which is never an easy thing, pompous little fucks have been fed with a gold spoon their whole lives, hand fed by their she-wolves.

They'll love having to obey me, an ordinary human female with anger issues and a strict no-bullshit policy.

"Fancy giving me a hand?" I offer Jackson, Winter, and Beck.
