A few days had passed and then a week, and before I knew it a whole month. Jackson never turned up, he called to tell me he's re-joining Hardin's pack so he can be closer to his parents, and a family again. I'm happy that he's happy.
That left me with one other person that actually still wants to be a part of my life, and it's the last person I'd ever expect to willingly invite into my house.
"Are you sure you don't mind us being here?" Kade asks me for the third time as he scoops Cami into his arms.
"Of course not, I'm glad for the company." I assure him, and Lisa who just smiles warmly.
"This is a nice house, very you." Kade nods, glancing around the simple, almost empty house.
It's full of furniture now, but it still feels empty, you know?
"I guess." I sigh. "I have a surprise for Cami, but you two might want to keep some distance."
I glance at Lisa and my father, offering a small smile. Kade shrugs and hands me Cami, who shyly smiles up at me with her big blue eyes.
"Hi." Her little sweet voice melts my heart.
"Hi." I whisper with a grin, carrying her outside and across the field.
"You have a horse?" Kade stops in his tracks, abrupt and alarmed.
I just turn my head and grin. "Cami will be fine, just stay there and don't come any closer." I tell them both.
Instead of fencing off a portion of land, I fenced all the way around the huge field so that the horses have a large area, although I do have a round pen to the side of the stables now.
Cami gasps when she sees Apollo, dramatically slapping her hand over her mouth, staring bambi eyed at him. I couldn't help but laugh, giving Apollo a small stroke as I pass him, heading to the next stall and opening it up.
The adorable little Shetland pony waits patiently until I call her out.
"So cute!" Cami squeals, and I place her on her feet.
She immediately runs over to the brown and white chunky little pony, without any fear she tries to hug her. Her little arms don't fit, and her reaction takes me by surprise, but it makes me smile.
"Her name is Aurora, do you like her?" I grin, giving the adorable pony a neck scratch before putting on her pink bridle.
"Yes!" Cami confirms, clapping her little hands with the biggest smile a toddler could possibly have.
Wolf children are advanced, so cami is the size of a normal two year old but she's advanced mentally.
"Do you want to show mommy and daddy?" I whisper to her.
She's nods excitedly, staring back at Aurora who sweetly waits to be given a command. I did my research before buying Aurora, in fact, I paid more for her than I did Apollo. Which is saying something, but the breeders were very professional and assured me that Aurora is extremely obedient. So far they've been honest about that.
"Tell her to walk, and she will follow." I smile, standing back and holding the stall door open.
Cami practically bounces on her feet as she strokes the well groomed pony, admiring its fluff.
"Walk." She finally tells her, and Aurora slowly begins walking out of the stall.
"Guide her, walk in front so she knows where to go." I explain gently, sticking close to make sure Aurora doesn't get excited and knock Cami over or anything.
