(A/N: In this oneshot, the reader is a bit shy. Sorry if you're actually a very confident person, I just thought it would fit better.)
You stride through the halls, heading towards your favourite stargazing spot outside.
You are a visitor in Rivendell, a messenger from Lothlórien. You had been sent here to carry a message for Lord Elrond from the Lady Galadriel, who was also your aunt. You had only been to Rivendell a few times before, and knew Elrond well, though you were always a little shy around him.
Your mind snaps back to the present as you exit the building and head towards the garden, lit by the starlight. You are so captivated by the stars that you fail to notice another person there, bumping into them and falling over.
"Oh! Sorry!" You cover your mouth as the person turns to you in surprise- it's Elrond.
"No, I am the one who is sorry! I didn't see you." He offers his hand for you to pull yourself up, and you do so, somewhat embarrassed.
"I didn't notice you, my Lord Elrond-" You start, but he interrupts you.
"It's alright, dear- no need for formalities now," Elrond assures you, smiling. "I assume you're here for the view?"
You look up at the sky. "Yes. It's really beautiful here."
He nods. "I always like to come here when I have free time. Unfortunately, that is less and less often now."
You smile shyly, and turn your attention back to the stars.
The stars arrange themselves in constellations in your mind, as they always do when you stargaze. You've always had a talent with the stars. You are so enraptured in the spectacle that you almost forget Elrond is beside you.
"You really like this, don't you, Y/N?" He laughs lightly.
"Yes... The stars have always been my passion, ever since I was a child. I could stay here forever," you reply, your head still turned up to the sky. You smile faintly. "So... How are you?"
"Very well, thank you for asking. And you?" Elrond asks.
"I'm all right. The stars always soothe me." You look down from the sky and realize Elrond is looking at you. "It's really nice to be watching the stars with someone else for a change."
"I could say the same thing." He inclines his head. "Which constellation is your favourite?"
You talk about stars for a few minutes and you find yourself much more comfortable around Elrond as you were before. You now realize he isn't always so stiff and formal, that he's actually kind, caring, and kind of funny too sometimes.
You laugh and start to tell him something but you are interrupted by a dark-haired elf who walks into the garden hurriedly.
"My lord, we have urgent matters at the entrance." He stops, standing straight.
"Ah- Yes, of course. Thank you Lindir." Elrond turns to you. "Well, it was a lovely evening, Y/N. Maybe we can do this again."
He follows Lindir through the garden, and is gone.
You are left alone with the stars in the garden. Gazing back up at them, you smile.
