Preference - What he tells you, and only you. (hobbits)

(A/N: Sorry if some of these are bad, I ran out of inspiration)

Frodo: Frodo told you of his worries concerning the war of the ring, and what would happen after. He explained to you, somewhat embarrassed, that he didn't know what he would do with his life after the war was over, supposing you won. You comforted him, saying that all things would come in time and that you were always right beside him.

Sam: Sam talked to you about the fact that he wanted to start a garden when the war would be over. He told you all the different types of flowers and plants he would plant, and you could see how happy he was, talking about what he loved most (apart from you).

Merry: Merry told you that he was in love with somebody. You listened to him, heartbroken, as he described the qualities of the person he loved. You tried to be happy for him, but you could barely hear what he was saying. When you asked him who that person was, he looked at you and said "You."

Pippin: This may sound cheesy, but Pippin really had to tell you how much you meant to him. You were the most important thing in his life, and he had to tell you how much he loved you. You were touched at the end of his declaration.

Bilbo (time of the Hobbit): Bilbo confessed to you that he had a magic ring to make him invisible after you asked him how he possibly could've escaped from Smaug in the mountain. He told you how he found it and what it did, asking you not to tell anyone. You kept his secret for him.
