You swung your sword and beheaded an orc. Another down, a few hundred more to go.
"Thorin!" You called to your husband, who was out of your sight. "How are you doing?"
"I'm fine, Y/N!" He answered, and you located him about a dozen feet away, blocked from you by a group of about twenty orcs.
You started slashing your way towards him, cutting down the orcs in front of you, and had almost reached Thorin when you felt a sharp pain on your arm.
You turned, astonished, and saw a bloody gash on your arm, causing you to drop your shield. You shifted on your feet, turning to the orc that had cut you.
He lunged at you again, and you dodged, wincing in pain at the sudden movement. You slashed with your sword, cutting its shoulder, and it turned to you again, angered.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Thorin fighting desperately among the orcs to get to you, but he was still too far.
This time, the ran straight at you with its jagged sword pointed straight at you, and Thorin could only watch as it drove the blade
right
through
your
heart."Y/N!!!" He yelled as you fell, and he cut down all the orcs that were between you, beheading the one that had stabbed you, and knelt by your side.
You smiled faintly up at him. "Thorin—"
"Y/N, please don't leave me. You can't—"
Even as he spoke, he saw the life draining from your eyes. It was too late.
Then you were gone.
"Y/N!!" He cried, but you didn't move.
~* 200 years later *~
Thorin looked down at his enemy, now dead before him. He had killed Azog the Defiler.
He stood up weakly, but pain racked through his body. He was wounded. Badly.
Thorin managed to walk to the edge of the icy cliff, and looked down to see the armies of elves, men and dwarves rallying together to defeat the greater evil. And they were triumphing.
They would win the battle. But he wouldn't be there to witness the victory.
"Y/N..." He whispered, and fell to the ground.

Thorin opened his eyes again. He was in a completely different place— He couldn't tell where.
He was standing. Around him, there seemed to be misty gray walls, but they shifted and changed shape if he looked at them too long.
Thorin looked around. Then he heard a voice.
"Thorin!!" It cried, and he recognized it, after all these years, it was finally—
"Y/N!" He exclaimed as you crashed into him, wrapping your arms around his neck.
"Oh, Thorin—" You whispered, a tear rolling down your cheek. "I waited for you, all this time. I waited..."
"I'm here, Y/N," he said, half-laughing and half-crying. "I'm here and I'll never leave you..."
You both held each other closer. "They asked me if I wanted to go on—" You continued, still crying. "But I said no, I had to wait for you, and here you are— Now we can go together."
"Together." He agreed, and took your hand.
Together, the two of you walked on into the mist. Never to be parted again.
