(A/N: In this story, Gandalf met you when you were young and when he realized you could use magic, he took you under his wing and does his best to teach you how to control your powers.)

"Stay calm, Y/N. Breathe in, breathe out... Can you feel the power inside of you?"

"Yes." You answered, eyes closed. You could feel it deep in your chest, the magic that felt like a fire burning in your soul, though not painfully. You could connect with the magic best when you were calm, meditating.

"Good." You could feel Gandalf smiling. "Now extend your hand, and at the same time, reach out with your magic. Can you still feel it?"

You did as he told, extending a hand in front of you without looking, and focusing on bringing the magic up the length of your arm.

"Very good, Y/N. Now imagine a light— a small fire, a candle, a star. Anything that speaks to you most powerfully."

You thought of a star, because it felt more right to you, and imagined the magic in your arm concentrating in the palm of your hand, creating the cold beauty of a small star in your hand.

"There!" You heard Gandalf say. "You've done it— Look!"

You opened your eyes and saw happily that there was indeed a small ball of white light shining in the palm of your hand, similar to the stars that shone in the sky during the night.

You tried to concentrate more, calming your mind, and made the ball of light rise into the air and turn in small, slow circles over you and Gandalf's heads.

"Perfect!" Gandalf looked at the little light in satisfaction and back at you. "I knew you were able to do it."

You smiled back at him. "Thank you."

Then, just to try, you concentrated on the light and tried to make it blue. After a few seconds, it seemed to shed the whiteness and turned to a small ball of blue light, still moving in small circles.

You tried again, and the light turned to green, then yellow, then blue again, and you were trying to make it turn pink when it flickered like a candle and went out, disappearing.

"Very impressive!" Gandalf nodded. He noticed your disappointed face. "Oh, don't worry, dear. That was a very good performance. I'll make a wizard of you yet!"
