I was watching the news when I heard that a officer was shot but they would say if the knew who it was in Carlos's zone which made me more tense
I pulled out my phone pulling up Carlos messages
8:00 pm
Tk- hey you okay ?
Tk- los ?
Tk- hello?
At this point my leg was shaking up and down
"Daddy ?" Ellie said
"Yeah bug ?" I said looking at the steps
"Can you come tuck me in again ?" She asked
"Yeah bug I'll be up in a second ." I said
I called Carlos straight to voicemail I tried again nothing
I put my phone down on the table heading upstairs
"Hey bug you can't sleep ?" I said sitting in the edge of her bed
She shook her head
" would you read me another bed Time story ?" She asked
" yeah bug anything you want ." I said kissing her head
She soon fell asleep and I exited her room I looked at my phone again hoping to see anything from Carlos a message a call even that he read my message
Nothing but a blank phone screen
I was worried I couldn't lose him he's all I had left he's my soulmate everyday we go to work we know it could be the last time we see each out her with our jobs mainly Carlos's you never know it's uncertain but we always promise one another that we would come home not just for one another but for Ellie
I heard the door open as I immediately saw Carlos and took a breath of relief I ran to him wrapping my arms around him as he wrapped his arms around me kissing my head
I pulled out of the hug immediately slapping him on the arm
"Ouch!" Carlos screeched
"Shh you big baby ." I said covering his mouth
"what's that for ." Carlos said looking at me
" they said a officer in your zone had been shot and they didn't know the name I thought it was you and when you didn't answer your messages I started To think the worse los." I said
" sorry I left my phone at the station I didn't mean to scare you baby ." Carlos said
" forgive me ?" Carlos said wrapping his arms around me and then giving me the Carlos cow eyes
" yeah I guess so go get a shower you stink ." I chuckled
" yeah and then I'll meet you in bed and we can cuddle ." Carlos said
" yeah make sure you get all that gel out of you hair I like your hair curly ." I said ruffling his hair gelled hair
"Anything for you tiger ."he said kissing my nose
