Layla climbed in, the tree shrinking.  I watched it shrink back into an acorn.  “I guess your mom just told you?”  She asked.  I nodded.  “What was that?  I couldn't understand a word you guys said.”  She questioned.  I looked at my mom.  She nodded.  “It's Japanese.  My mom and I went to Japan during a work trip.  Though I guess it was a mission of some kind instead.”  I answered.  Layla nodded.  “So, I guess your power is healing?”  She asked.  I shrugged, looking at the window again.  “And yours is controlling plants.”  I told her.  Layla nodded.

Layla did have to leave after that.  But I agreed to meet with her in the morning to go to the school.  She said it was called Sky high.  Like my mom had said, it was a place where the kids of Heroes went to learn their powers, be placed into either Hero or Hero Support, and learn how to save the world.  By the end of the day, I didn’t have any burn marks left and my hair was back to being completely white.  Was my power just advanced healing?  I took another shower before going to bed.  Tomorrow was going to be a long day.

My alarm jolted me up again, just like the day before.  I turned it off, checking the time.  8:30?!  I was going to be late on the first day of school!  I got up quickly, changing into a jacket and leggings before running downstairs.  I made sure to pull my hair back into a ponytail as well to try keeping it out of sight.  My mom wasn't here, but there was a note.  It was in Japanese but said she wished me luck and the bus would be there at 8:50.  That was ten minutes from now.  I grabbed a cereal bar and a hairbrush.  I brushed my hair quickly, pulling it into a ponytail and grabbing another hat.  I grabbed a bag and ate the cereal bar before running out the door.

To my surprise, Layla was already there with Will.  “Hey, Luna.”  Layla greeted me.  I stopped, taking a few breaths.  “I didn't change my alarm and woke up late.”  I replied.  Will nodded.  There was another guy here.  He had blonde hair.  “Hey, the name's Zach.  Nice to meet ya.”  He greeted me.  I nodded lightly.  “Luna just moved in with her mom, Zach.  She's coming to Sky high with us.”  Layla explained.  Zach nodded.  “Cool.”  He replied.  A bright yellow bus rolled up.  That seemed… Very obvious for a superhero bus.  Will, Zach, and Layla got on.  “Is this the bus to Sky high?”  Will asked the bus driver.

The bus driver shhed him.  “Do you want every supervillain in the neighborhood to know we're here?”  He asked.  Will said no.  Also, everyone knew Will's parents somehow.  Guess they were pretty well known?  Well, instead of getting on normally: I tripped and fell in front of everyone.  A few people laughed.  I got up, pulling my hat down even more.  Way to make a first impression.  “Don't take it too hard, freshman.  What's your name?”  The bus driver asked.  I looked at him before answering.  “L-Luna Munroe.”  I replied.  The bus driver looked shocked.  “Munroe?  You're Storm's kid?”  He asked.  The bus driver knew my mom's name?

The driver got up as he did for Will.  “Everyone!  This is Luna, she's Storm's kid.”  He introduced me.  “I'm Ron Wilson, bus driver.  Let me know if I can do anything to make your time at Sky high better.”  He said, handing me a card.  It had his name and phone number.  “Hai. (Okay.)”  I muttered softly.  There was a moment when Ron told the two behind his seat to get up.  He said Will sat behind him.  I was glad to find a seat in the back that was empty.  “Hey.”  Someone muttered.

I looked around.  There was a girl across the row.  She had blonde hair and bright blue eyes.  She smiled.  “I'm Angel Hope.”  She introduced herself.  I nodded.  Angel moved to take the space next to me.  “Anata ga nihongo o hanashite iru no o kikimashita. Tabun watashitachiha tomodachi ni naremasen ka? (I heard you speaking Japanese.  Maybe we can friends?)”  She asked.  I looked at her for a moment.  “Anata wa nihongo o hanasu hōhō o shitte imasu ka? (You know how to speak Japanese?)”  I replied.  Angel nodded.  “My dad is from there so I had to learn it to talk to him.”  She explained.  I nodded.  “My mom and I stayed there for a while.  I had no idea she was a superheroine though.”  I told her.  Angel nodded.
