There was a bell in the distance. Draven groaned. “Great. They’re calling a curfew. Let’s get back, you guys.” He hissed. Everyone nodded. We needed to get back quickly. Other students were heading inside. I caught sight of someone flying down. Right, Will had to have found other students to talk to as well. “Will!” I called out. He turned, smiling and going to meet me. “Hey, Luna. Find anything out?” He asked.I shrugged a bit at first but then nodded. “I met some people who may be able to help us figure out where everyone is.” I replied, somewhat motioning to the others behind me. Will nodded slightly. I looked at everyone. “Guys, this is Will Stronghold. He’s the friend that came with me. And he happens to also have two mutations.” I introduced everyone. Caz shook his head. “Of course. What do you do man?” He asked.
Will smiled. “I fly and have super strength, like my parents.” He answered confidently. Wisp seemed to smirk, waving her hand. Which caused a portal to open up under Will, making him fall. “Will!” I exclaimed, looking back. “Where did you send him?” I asked. Wisp laughed, pointing to the roof. Where Will was now flying down from, looking both surprised and annoyed. “Very funny.” He muttered. We headed in after a moment.
Draven took some time to explain to Will what the others did. “Layla’s gonna have a field day with you.” He said, in regards to hearing what Sam’s power was. We ran into Hank after a bit. “There you are. You’ll be able to talk to the Professor first thing in the evening tomorrow. For now, I’ve arranged some rooms for you. We can get everything set up tomorrow.” He explained. I nodded, bowing my head for a moment.
“Thank you. I can’t even explain how much it means you’re willing to help.” I answered, briefly bowing my head. We had to let Draven and the others get to their rooms. Will and I were placed across the hall from each other, just in case something happened. I went to my room, finding it was set up similar to a room in Japan. I smiled at the effort, I just sat on the bed. In Japan, the bedroom was only used as such at night. It had everything in one room.
But this was still a bedroom. Someone had even been able to find a way to paint some cherry blossoms on the wall. It was a thoughtful gesture. The bed was soft enough that I felt like I could sleep the whole night. I sighed, thinking of Warren and the others. “Hang on guys, just a little bit longer before we come to find you. We’ll get everyone out. I promise… or it will be the last thing I do.” I swore to them softly.
The mountains stretched far above the ground. Father than almost the eye could see. The air had an eerie feel to it. The surroundings were unfocused, like a bad photo.
There was a rumble. It was deep into the mountain. We stood at the base. But… I couldn’t see who was there with me. I could just feel that I was not alone. So, we headed in. At first, it looked like a cave. Then a secret tunnel opened up thanks to someone with me. The tunnel led into a lab of some sort it seemed like. Though we couldn't get close enough to the lab. A sharp scratching sound signaled that we weren’t alone. A burst of flames came toward our group.
I blocked it, sending it back to wherever it came from. Soon after, vines erupted from the ground. They entangled everyone. I lifted my hand, making the vines wilt and fall back to the ground. But… fire and vines? The group looked further down the tunnel to find who attacked us. There, just out of complete reach of our lights… Stood Layla and Warren.
I yelped, jolting up. I struggled to catch my breath. The room looked bright. The door slammed open. “Luna!? Are you okay?” Will asked. It was a dream… But it felt so real. I nodded, taking a few deep breaths. Will sat on the edge of the bed next to me. “Luna, calm down. Whatever it was you saw, was only a dream, alright? You’re okay.” He assured me quickly. Why would he… The room… Everything was knocked over. It was a mess.
My eyes… Were lit up. I let them go back to normal. Will sighed. “People thought we were being attacked. A whole storm started picking up. What were you dreaming about?” Will asked. I took a breath. “A mountain… There was a tunnel… You were there… I… I think there were others besides us there too… But… We were attacked… Fire… Vines… Layla and Warren… They were attacking us… It felt… So real.” I tried to recall.
Will put a hand on my shoulder. “Look, I know you’re worried. But thinking like that isn’t going to help, alright? That’s not going to happen. We’ll find everyone and get them home safely.” He assured me once again. I took a breath slowly, nodding a bit. “Thanks, Will... Nobody got hurt… right?” I answered. Will chuckled but shook his head.
“Nah, everyone’s fine. They were all ready for an attack though. It was crazy watching them. But I realized you weren’t anywhere, so I came to look for you.” He replied. Everyone was ready for an attack, even if they didn’t know there was one? Huh… Everyone here… Seemed more prepared than at Sky High.
That was good then. It meant they would be prepared if anything did go wrong. We should have something similar back at Sky High for similar reasons. Will helped me head back outside to see what everyone was up to. They were all outside still. The students seemed more confused than scared though. Draven and Sam appeared quickly.
“Was that you, Luna?” Sam asked. I hesitated before answering. But Will put a hand on my shoulder. “Yes… I can’t control what happens when I sleep… especially when I don’t have a good dream.” I answered quietly.
Draven hummed a bit. He shook his head a bit. "You want to find your friends and family but you can't control your own abilities? What if you hurt someone?" He asked. I paused at the question.
What if I hurt someone trying to get everyone out? I could never forgive myself if that happened. Everyone was eventually let back inside and told to go back to sleep. But I wasn't sure I'd even be able to go back to sleep. The image of the mountain in that dream, well, nightmare, seemed so real.
Maybe Tracker could recognize the mountain or something. I ended up pacing around the room for who knows how long. I left the room after some time, heading to the library again. Where I was able to find a decent sized paper and some pencils I could use to draw. I cleared a table, laying the papers out and started drawing everything I could remember from that dream.
