I checked my pockets after a moment. “Wait, I still have Laura’s burner phone on me,” I said, handing the other one to Will. “Just in case we can’t find each other normally,” I added. Will nodded, tucking the burner phone into his pocket. Will went out front to find the people he saw before, I guess. I looked around a bit. Huh… they had a pretty big library here… Maybe I could find some clues in there on where to start looking. I checked the library.
I could probably start looking for places that were remote and could have enough metal in the ground to make those robots. I checked a few books that could have a few good leads. Though I heard some kind of bell go off after a while. Multiple conversations picking up told me that whatever schedule this place ran on, just swapped to something else. It was like a school. That bell must have told everyone to get to their next class or something.
I glanced up when one conversation started being directed towards me. which made them all pause. They probably didn’t think I could hear them. One of them tried waving me over. I brushed part of my hair from my face and went back to the book I had. There was a light kind of growl in return. I glanced up slightly at that, lifting one hand and flicking it to the side. Which made the silver water bottle tip over. It was closed but proved my point. Since someone went to grab the water bottle before something spilled out of it.
There was a light laugh in response though. “I thought there was only one person who could control metal here.” Someone commented. I half smiled at that. So the bottle was made of metal. oh well. Let them think whatever they wanted, So long as they left me alone for now. Which didn’t last very long, since I heard the group get up and walk over to where I was.
I glanced at them, just a bit annoyed at the moment. But I could tell fighting or any kind wouldn't be allowed here. There were three of them. “Hey, new chick, What’s your deal?” The one guy asked. He had silver-colored hair and eyes to match. I glanced back at the book I had for a moment. Which was torn away in a second. “What are you looking at metal works for? Is that your power?” He asked, flipping through the book at a very quick pace.
Super speed? Useful, and fairly annoying. They probably expected me to reply. “Hey, you deaf or something? I know you heard us before.” The silver guy said. Making the rose-blonde girl push his shoulder. “Leave the girl alone Kai. She’s probably as confused about this place we were when we first got here.” She said. Huh… so silver hair was named Kai. At least this girl seemed nicer. Though the other guy was silent. He was the one who had growled. But I didn’t see anything about him yet that said he had powers. Well, besides the fact his eyes were a golden color. His hair was a solid black color, almost like it drew in any light around it.
“I would say that, but I’m not a student here. I'm staying here for a few days until the professor gets back.” I replied after a moment. Which seemed to surprise them a bit. The rose-blonde seemed surprised about something. “Huh… weird.” She muttered. Kai seemed to catch what she said. “What is it, Sarah?” He asked. So the girl was Sarah. The names were nice at least. “What class are you, girl?” Sarah asked. What did she mean by class?
“I'm not a student here,” I replied. Which just made them both laugh a bit. “No, No. She means what power class you are. Sarah can sense how powerful someone is… typically after hearing them speak if she’s close enough.” Kai explained. I nodded slightly. So they classified their class by how strong their powers were and not what kind of power they had? This place was a lot different from Sky High. “I don’t know what ‘class’ I would be then,” I responded. Sarah nodded a bit. “I can’t get a feel about your power… it’s controlling metal, right?” She asked.
I shook my head after a moment. “No, it’s not.” I allowed myself to say. Which seemed to confuse them both. “So how did you tip over the metal water bottle from across the room?” Kai asked. I smiled a bit, closing the book I had still. I never get to mess with many people. I glanced around the room, settling to just mess with the lights at first. Moving the hand I held under the table to make the lights flicker. Sarah glanced around at the sudden change.
Kai didn’t seem so confused. “So you control electricity?” He asked. I just smiled lightly. Even if everybody here all had powers, I didn’t know if I could trust all of them. I let the lights go back to normal. “You know… you look a lot like a mutant we spoke to in class a while ago.” Sarah started. I half tilted my head before remembering my mom must have gone here for a bit whenever she had a mission or something. “What’s your name?” Sarah asked. The third guy glanced around after a moment. I could pick up a humming sound as well, so maybe he had enhanced hearing as well.
But… if they already met my mom, there couldn’t have been much harm in telling them. “Luna. My name is Luna Munroe.” I replied. Which earned the reaction I had expected. “You’re Storm’s daughter? As in, the Storm? That controls the weather and everything?” Kai asked. I smiled lightly, nodding. Sarah seemed to get excited. “So that must mean you’re an omega-level mutant. Since your mom is… Well, depending on who your dad was and on whose abilities yours are most like.” She explained, seeming glad now for some reason. Though Sarah seemed to catch herself in something.
“Sorry, I’ve just never met another mutant as strong as your mom, besides the professor that is.” She added quickly. I nodded a bit after she explained. I guess it made sense. “Though… I don’t know what you mean by mutant… Where I go to school, we’re split into hero and hero support based on what powers we have.” I tried explaining. The third guy seemed to scoff a bit.
“So you mean you don’t know how to control any of your abilities, in other words.” They assumed. I growled a bit at the comment. Which surprised the guy. “Draven, come on man. Leave her be, would you?” Kai said. Unique name. It had a few different meanings, depending on where specifically it came from. “Hunter or Child of Shadows?” I asked. Which seemed to surprise the guy. “Where did you get that from?” Sarah asked. I half-smiled at the question.
