I checked the chair, and found some buttons on it. Sitting down, I clicked one. The chair turned around, seeming to gain wheels almost. Monitors rose from the floor, big ones. There were three of them. One with a camera outside on the mountain. One screen showed what could have been a mapped out system of the compound we were in. The third was blurred. Like the camera was broken.
"Whoa, this room was empty before. What did you do?" A voice asked. I looked over, seeing Draven walk in first. Wisp came in with Will and Zach. I hummed, sliding the chair to the second screen. "Chair came up. This all opened when I sat on it. Not a very good security system if you ask me." I answered.
I looked at the keyboard, checking the mouse. Where I was soon able to click through a lot of different cameras. They showed different rooms and different angles from outside the mountain. I moved to the screen with a map. "I'm pretty sure these cameras, " I started explaining, "match up to different rooms in this compound under the mountain. So maybe we can find everyone else using them." I finished.
Tracker and Caz were the more techy guys. And they were back on the ship waiting for us to get back. Maybe we could link the comms system up to the ship and somehow figure out what else was here. But the comms still didn't seem to work too well. Something was still messing with the signals.
I moved to the first screen again, trying to find any other systems. "What's with this broken one?" Will asked. I looked over, shrugging. "Camera looks busted. Might have been hit by an animal or maybe the weather. It's hard to make out what the image is." I replied. Draven shook his head. "No, it's covered in mist, or maybe it's steam from a vent of some kind. There's none of those near here, and there shouldn't be, so it has to be showing another place." He said.
I pushed the chair over, hearing a click before something locked me onto the chair. I yelped, though the chair launched back into a new opening on the wall behind me. I heard Will call out after me. Lights flashed by, though it stayed mostly dark. The chair slowed, spinning to a stop in front of what seemed to be a metal room. A banging sound from inside told me there was someone else besides Zach being kept in this facility.
I jumped out of the chair, running to the metal. It was solid. Even the floor looked like it had metal covering it. I put a hand up, taking a breath. A heat soon flaring up my arm and onto the metal. I felt the hard surface kind of melt away. The flame I saw once my eyes opened was spectacular. It folded and followed the metal until there was a large enough gap that I could walk through.
The first thing I noticed was the plants flowering around every corner of the metal cage. "Layla?!" I called out. The vibes on the wall whipped toward me. Grabbing one arm and wrapping around my legs. I yelped, creating a burst of flames to get the plants to let go. I couldn't take control over the plants Layla was controlling. She had me beat when it came to who controlled them when we fought for it.
Layla's form appeared after a moment passed. "Oh my god, Luna!" She exclaimed, running over. I ended up being full on tackled to the ground on the cage. Yeah, she's definitely not hurt. I pushed Layla off so I could get back up. "I'm glad you're okay, but please don't do that again. I could've still had flames on." I warned her. Layla nodded, but she seemed relieved.
"I can't believe you found this place. It's just Zach and me here. None of the other kids from Sky High are here. Your parents aren't here either. Laura and Warren were taken somewhere else." She explained while we headed out of the metal cage. I nodded a bit, looking around to find a way to get back to where the others had been.
Layla seemed to be unsettled, but her powers were working, which was a good sign. I looked back to the chair, shaking my head. No way it was designed to go back up, and the different weight might trigger some kind of trap. "Did whoever behind this really just stick you into a metal box the whole time?" I asked. Layla nodded lightly. "Yeah, and I'm starving. I haven't had anything to eat." She replied.
I had to hold a growl back. They weren't even going to give them anything to eat?! I took a breath, sighing quietly. "Well, hopefully Will's attitude gets better knowing we've found you." I noted, looking down a couple of the hallways. There had to be another way out of this place.
Layla seemed confused. "What did he do now?" She asked. I had to smile at the way she worded the question. "He said it was likely my family's fault that everyone was taken." I replied. Layla sighed. "There's no way that's possible, Luna. It wasn’t anyone's fault." She tried telling me.
I smiled a bit. "Thanks Layla… it honestly hurt when Will said that to me… I might have overreacted, but it really did hurt." I answered. We looked around to find another way out. Though this place was really similar to a maze. It was a wonder how whoever was behind this never got lost in their own lair.
What we eventually found was a bigger, more open area. Like there was supposed to be something here. I walked over a bit, crouching down. "There's prints all over this place. Like the ones the robots make." I said. There were also some kind of… scorch marks… "Warren… he was here… he was fighting them." I realized. Layla came over, sighing a bit.
"I'm sorry Luna. We'll find everyone including Warren. But we need to find the group." She assured me. I nodded, standing back up. This just made me remember the dream I had back at the school. Where Warren and Layla were made to fight against us somehow. We wandered for what felt like hours. Then I heard footsteps, and, thankfully, the voices of Draven and Will. Layla and I ducked around a corner.
"What makes you think this is even the right way?" Draven asked. Will sighed. "At least we're looking around instead of just waiting now." He answered, sounding annoyed. Layla must have been dying to see Will, because she practically jumped on him when he turned the corner. I found it really sweet, though it knocked Will right over.
