“So, everyone's been talking about homecoming and that fight.” Ron said, trying to get a conversation going. I sighed. “I hardly knew what I was doing. I had no idea- I knew nothing about that side of my powers.” I replied. Ron chuckled lightly. “I don't blame you. You must have been pretty freaked out.” He assumed. I huffed. “That's the understatement of the year.” I allowed myself to admit. The school came into view not long after that. “Powers wanted me to tell you to head to her office after the bell rang.” Ron said as I got off. I nodded. “Thanks. I'll see you after school.” I replied. Ron closed the door behind me and parked somewhere else.I heard the bell ring after I got inside the school. I made sure my hood stayed up, but kept my head up. Things had to change. For that to happen, I had to stop being so timid about everything. I found Powers' office easily, knocking on the closed door. It was only a few seconds before she opened it. After sitting, I took my hood down. It seemed like she already knew about my eyes being different colors because she didn't react in a bad way. Powers just smiled in a way that looked like it was supposed to reassure me of something.
“How are you feeling?” She asked first. I shook my head lightly. “Honestly, I still feel a little off… But I didn't want to keep staying at home when I could be here, learning and doing something that could help others someday.” I replied. Powers nodded. “We looked at the security footage from homecoming… and I have to say this. I was quite surprised with everything you did.” She continued. I nodded. “I felt the same way. I had no idea that I could do any of that. But everyone at the school needed help and I wanted to help.” I tried explaining. Powers just nodded. I noticed she had a lot more papers on her desk than the last time I was here.
“What happened… After I… Passed out?” I asked slowly, trying to keep my words straight. Principal Powers nodded slowly. “I thought you might ask that.” She muttered thoughtfully. It took a while for me to understand, but I did eventually. Everyone who had been turned into a baby was changed back. Will's parents even denied the fake award, saying Ethan, Magenta, Zach, Warren, Layla, and Will were the real Heroes. I was just as surprised to hear them say I was a Hero too, for stopping Angel. Principal Powers gave me a few papers. She said everyone should be in the gym right about now and to head down and join them.
There was another Save the Citizen match going on. I made sure to keep my hood up after going into the gym. Will, Layla, Warren, and the girl with ice powers were all facing off. Warren and the ice girl were the villains while Will and Layla were the Heroes. I could see Zach, Ethan, and Magenta standing together watching. I stayed near the door, looking through the papers I had been given. Wait… They'd transferred me to Hero Class. I was supposed to go to the Mad Science Lab after the match. What about Layla and the others? I wouldn't see them as much. They were the reason I was able to find out about my other power in the first place. They were the main reason I had wanted to help so much. What if we stopped talking?
To nobody's surprise, Will and Layla won the match. Layla had trapped the ice girl in vines and kept growing them even after she froze them. Will almost didn't save the citizen, but he threw Warren at just the right time which let Will grab and save the dummy citizen. None of them seemed to notice me as they passed. I heard a few muttered comments about who 'the new student' was and why I had a hood on inside the school. I took my time going to the Mad Science Lab. I took a quick detour to the Hero Support room. Mr. Boy was teaching a group of students I hadn't seen before. I didn't see Layla, Zach, Ethan, or Magenta there either. I swore that was our normal class period. Maybe class schedules had been moved around or something.
But I knew I had to go to the Mad Science Lab, or I would get into huge trouble on my first day back. I still took my time going there, opting to wait for most of the other students to clear the hallways before getting to the actual classroom. Mr. Medulla was already deep into a lesson when he noticed I was in the doorway.
