Milana had been to countless funerals, from her grandparents, to her aunt and uncles, to her parents and older sister. The girl had been convinced that she would have attended at least twenty funerals by the time she turned thirty. And those funerals would only be her family. She never expected that she would lose people who came into her life, just to be pulled out again. She was not even able to see the girl once. She wanted to talk to the girl and tell her how sorry she was for everything that happened to her. Milana wanted to comfort her and just hug her, but she couldn't.
With a heavy sigh, Milana and Hayley made their way through Lafayette Cemetery towards Davina's plot, their heels clacking against the cobbled path. Hayley had decided to come with Milana because even though she wasn't as close to Davina, as Milana, she will honour her respects.
As the two women approached, they caught sight of Vincent, Marcel, Kol and Josh; all of them wearing expressions of varying degrees of pain and sadness equal to that of Milana's own.The woman looked down at the flower in her hand before she walked towards them. Vincent caught ight of the two women first. He was surprised that they even came after what had happened. But he was glad they came to pay their respects.
Kol turned and he smiled when he saw that it was Milana. She stopped right beside him with Hayley behind her. She looked at Josh, and he gave her a pained smile, which she returned.“Say not in grief that she is no more, but be thankful that she ever was and though she was taken far too soon, may her enduring light show us a way through this darkness,” Vincent bega. as Milana held the flower in her hand.
“Let us mourn, as we cannot move on until we do.” Milana's gripped on the flower tightened. She hated funerals so much. She never wanted to attend another funeral, but here she was.
“And though the pain may at times seem like more than we can bare, make no mistake, we will move on,” Vincent saod as he looked at them. Milana let out a shaky breath. “And even now, the words of Ecclesiastics are ringing in my ears, they're saying vengeance as a lion shall lie in wait for them.”
They all looked over at Davina's tomb. Josh then stepped forward. “A while ago, forever ago, I told Davina a story about my first boyfriend, but what I didn't tell her was that I had never shared that story with anyone else. She was like a sister and a best friend, and I loved her. I wish th. . .uh. . .” Josh struggled to find his words as grief had overtaken him.
