Milana was sitting in an armchaie in the courtyard that had been completely made over with Christmas decorations, including a huge tree in the middle of the room that was adorned with white lights and gold and red baubles. She had forgotten that it was Christmas time already. With everything that had been happening, the last thing that’s been on her mind was Christmas. Festive season uses to be huge for her family but over the past a few years it had just been heartache after heartache. So, the girl didn't even remember when she last celebrated Christmas.

Cami was watching with equal parts curiosity, horror, and exasperation as a compelled woman drained blood from a cut on the palm of her hand into a wine glass. Cami gave her a confused look.

Do they, like, pay you?” Cami asked the woman. The blood donor smiled at Cami cheerfully as Klaus waltzed into the room and answered her question.

“Handsomely! And with a generous Christmas bonus.”

Klaus looked over at the woman, who handed him the glass of her blood. “Isn't that right?”
The woman smiled weakly and nodded before she left, and Klaus smirked at Cami in amusement as he sat down in the chair next to Milana to enjoy his morning meal.

“So, you just compel her to nod and agree with whatever you say?” Cami questioned him. “I compel her to feed me... and to hang the occasional Christmas ornament. She can say whatever the hell she wants.”

Cami laughed despite herself, and Klaus sipped his blood with an amused smile. “Don't worry, Cami. You'll get used to it,” Milana told the woman.

“You seem better.”

“Yeah. Thank you for letting me stay here the last couple of days, and giving me space to not talk,” Cami said looking between the couple. Klaus seemed pleased to hear this, and Cami hesitated before she continued, “Why didn't you go with Elijah to help Rebekah?”

“He doesn't want either of us to be alone because he thinks Aurora might appear again,” Milana said, looking over at Klaus.

Klaus looked slightly ashamed for a moment as he glanced sheepishly around the room. “It's not a good idea for he and I to spend hours together in confined spaces, given that the prophecy foretells one family member felled by another,” Klaus explained to the blonde before glancing at Milana. That was one of the reasons.
