Milana made sure to buy herself some potato chips and some drinks when she left the store. She had been craving potato chips for the past week but she's never been able to just go out and buy herself some. Today when she went shopping for some necessities, she bought her chips. She was on her way to see Cami since it had been a while since she last seen or even spoke to the blonde.
The Ramirez girl looked down at Hope, who was asleep in her stroller. At least she was sleeping otherwise she would have to put up with crying, and she wasn't in the mood for that. Hope wasn't a baby who cried a lot but lately, she had become more fussy that it upset Milana and irritated her at the same time.
She walked down the street towards the bar. Josh exited the bar just when she made it to the front of the bar. “Hey Josh.”
“Milana, hey. How have you been?” the boy asked his eyes moving down to the stroller. “I've been good thanks. And you?” she asked feeling a bit uneasy. She hadn't seen him after she heard about what happened to Aiden. It may have been only a few months ago, but she knew very well that, that wound has not healed.
“I've been coping, but I'm better, thank you.” Josh smiled glancing down at Hope with a smile before he asked, “You want to come in and enjoy a drink?”
Milana looked into the bar wondering if she should. It had been a while since she has had some alcohol. She's been very cautious on when to drink alcohol and when to not drink it. Hope may not have been breastfeeding anymore but she still wasn't keen on drinking. “Sure. Is Cami here, though?”
“Unfortunately not. She's only coming in later,” he told the girl as they entered the bar. Milana walked over to an empty table, near the bar and pulled the stroller towards her chair. “What would you want? A beer, or whiskey?”
“How about a drink that doesn't have too much alcohol, please,” she told Josh. He nodded and moved over to the back of the bar. Milana looked around at the bar and her eyes fell on the bar stools around the countet. That eas where she had first met Hayley. She couldn't believe it had been so long since that day. Not once over the past year and a half had she actually thought of that day. She was supposed to stay here for only a week, but somehow she ended up staying here permanently.
It's weird how life worked out.
Josh placed a blue cocktail in front of the girl, and she thanked him. “Hey, I'm leaving for a few minutes but that girl over there will help you if you need anything, okay?” Josh pointed to the girl behind the bar. She must have been very new since Milana doesn't remember seeing her in the Quarter before.
