Mom and I are at the mall for our girl's day out.

So far, we've been to five shops and came out with two bags from each shop, we've gotten our nails and hair done, and now, we're heading to the food court.

"I feel so much younger and prettier." Mom says.

"Mom, you're already very pretty." I say, making her blush.

"Oh stop." She says.

I chuckle and kiss her cheek lovingly.

"What do you want to eat?" She asks.

"Sushi." I say.

"Perfect. Let's order then." She says, and we walk towards a sushi court and place our orders.

"So how was your day with Erick yesterday?" She asks, wiggling her eyebrows.

I roll my eyes.

"Wouldn't you like to know." I say, but I tell her anyways.

Of course, I leave out the part about meeting Corbyn.

"Well, I'm glad you had fun. Jordan went out with some friends today so I left the girls at Erick's house with Brian. Erick's babysitting them." She says.

My eyes widen in shock.

"You left Erick alone with four kids? That spells disaster!" I say.

"Aw, come on, how bad can it be? He's 17 now." She says.

I shake my head in disbelief.

Just then, I spot Marcus, Andrea's boyfriend, sitting two tables in front of us.

The thing is, he's not alone.

He's sitting with a girl who looks around our age.

She's wearing a short pink skirt, and a white sleeveless top that exposes a bit of her cleavage.

From here, it looks like he's flirting with her.

I pull out my phone and as my first instinct, text Ann.

She has a right to know.

She immediately responds.

Andrea: Oh, that's his cousin.

Me: Doesn't look like it.

He keeps giving her starry eyes.

Andrea: Oh Jesy, don't worry. I asked him and he told me that's just his cousin.

I sigh, knowing I shouldn't intervene further.

It's their relationship, after all, and I probably should just leave it at that.

I still don't trust Marcus, but I'm not going to waste my time finding out whether he deserves Ann or not.

Because the truth is, he doesn't.

Anyone who flirts with someone else right in front of my innocent Ann, doesn't deserve her.

But for Ann's sake, I'll let it go.

Once Mom and I have finished, we decide to head to the spa for our last stop of the day.

"So you know what she said? She said I can't I'm not qualified! I've been in the office for ten years now, and she says that I'm not qualified!" Mom says while we wait for an employee to approach us.

Mom's telling me about an incident at work.

"Yossalyn told the woman to back off, because I was more experienced than her." She says.

"That was sweet of her to stand up for you." I say.

"Yeah, they're a really sweet family. All of them." She says.

Just then, an employee comes up to us.

"Welcome to 'Jacqueline's hair salon and spa' what services can I offer you today?" She asks us politely.

Mom asks her which services they offer.

The employee shows us a list.

"We'll take the body massage first, please." She says.

The woman smiles politely and leads us into a room.

We learn her name is Cassy.

After a relaxing spa treatment, which included a massage, facial pampering and overall pampering, Mom and I head home.

"That was so much fun!" She says, cheerfully.

I nod my head, beaming.

"I'm glad I got to spend a full day alone with you." I say.

"Me too. We earned all that pampering, don't you think?" She says, making me chuckle.

"I love my new nails." I say, admiring my new, long red nails.

I'm usually not one to paint my nails or wear makeup, but it does feel refreshing to do it once in a while.

When I get home, I head upstairs to my room and find my untouched English essay lying on my desk, exactly where I left it.

I sigh and sit at my desk, deciding to finish it.

In a way, I'm kind of excited, because I have to write about my first impression of Erick.

I start by writing, 'When I first met Erick Diaz...'

Once I start, the words start flowing freely, sentences and words, coming easily to me.

'When I first met Erick Diaz, I didn't have too many friends, and neither did I trust too many people. He was new to our school, and since I wasn't the welcoming type, I didn't welcome him with open arms. A lot of people had already started to befriend him and admire him. I couldn't care less at the time. To me, he was just another kid attending Foxfire High. Less than a week after his arrival, he was already playing for our school's volleyball team. He had made two very close friends, despite his popularity. At the time, I thought he was annoying, obnoxious, and egoistic. Sure, he had the looks, but the personality? I would have disagreed.

After spending time with him and getting to know him a little better, I actually started having fun. I realized I had judged him too harshly. He has a good sense of humor, he's charming, and yet he can be annoying all at the same time. He's a great volleyball player, a good surfer, and a good friend. He's great with children, he has a younger brother of his own, named Brian, who's just as mischievous and charming as his brother. He gets along very well with my own younger sisters, who look up to him like an older brother.

Erick's good nature and laid back attitude has taught me to have fun in life and not take too many things too seriously. He taught me that in life, there will be people who will want to hurt you and bring you down, but there will also be people who will want to see you shine, who love you, and who care for you.'
