"Hey guys! Did you hear the announcement during assembly?" Ann asks cheerfully.
I shake my head.
It's been a week since Mom and I had our relaxing girl's day out.
Today is Monday, hence my indifferent mood.
Plus it's winter, and I'm tired.
"The winter formal!" Jas, Nai and Ann yell at the same time.
"I don't care!" I say, mocking them in their high pitched excited voices.
Their faces fall.
"Aw, come on, it'll be fun!" Nai says.
"When is it?" I ask.
"This Friday." Ann says excitedly.
I roll my eyes.
"What day is it today?" I ask.
"Monday." Jas answers.
"And when is the formal?" I ask again.
"Friday...?"
"Exactly." I say, as though it's obvious.
I myself don't know what my point was.
I yawn tiredly.
I hate Mondays.
"Monday blues?" Erick asks, coming out of nowhere.
"You know it." Jas answers knowingly.
I flip them both off with a groan.
Erick chuckles.
"Where's Jake?" Jas asks, confused.
"His sister's inauguration ceremony is today, so he had to attend that." Erick informs.
Just then, the bell rings, signaling the end of our conversation and the start of class.
I groan and drag my feet into class.
Erick follows me, because, well, he's a stalker.
Just kidding.
We share a lot of our classes.

"Jess, hey." Erick says, stopping at my locker.
"Hi." I great, suppressing a yawn.
He shifts uncomfortably and looks at me nervously.
"Erick, what's wrong?" I ask, worried.
"It's just...I like you, okay?" He blurts.
I look at him, stunned.
This is not the first time he's said it, but his words still make my heart beat faster.
"As more than a friend." He clarifies.
"Oh." Is all I can say.
I want to say, 'I like you too, and have for a long time.', but no words come out.
"I was wondering if...no you know what? It's stupid. Never mind." He says nervously.
In all my time o knowing Erick Diaz, not once as he been nervous or not confident, especially around me.
Seeing him standing here, looking nervous and shy, makes my heart melt.
"No, it's okay, tell me what you were planning on saying." I say softly, looking him in the eye.
