"What's up with Erick?" Ann asks, sitting down with her tray.

I take my gaze off Erick and turn to Ann.

"Huh?" I ask distractedly.

What on Earth is Erick doing?

"Why is Erick-" Ann starts but Erick is already at our table.

"This is Darcy, I invited her to sit with us today, is that okay with you guys?" He asks, avoiding my gaze.

Ann and Nai shrug.

"The more the merrier." Ty says, almost indifferently.

Jas, who's already halfway through her burger says, "Of course."

"That settles it then." Erick says with a tone of finality and take the seat opposite mine.

Why didn't he bother to check with me?

I'm not okay with this!

I'm about to open up my mouth to say something, but Jas puts a hand on mine under the table and gives me a look that plainly says, 'Let it go.'

I sigh and opt for glaring at Erick.

He simply ignores my intense glare and eats his food like having Darcy at our table is perfectly normal.

After a few minutes of awkward silence, Ann tries to break the tension.

"So, Darcy, aren't you a cheerleader?" She asks.

Darcy smiles.

"Yeah. I was on my way to the amphitheater to eat alone, when Erick offered to let me sit with you guys." She says sweetly.

Erick invited her to sit with us?!?

Why?!

He finally looks up at me and I shoot him an accusing glare.

He merely shrugs indifferently.

"Where are your friends?" Nai asks politely.

"Leah is sick and Jackie twisted her ankle yesterday at practice so neither of them came to school today."

"Poor things." I say almost bitterly.

She gives me a sympathetic smile and continues eating.

I go back to glaring at Erick.

Why do I feel like slapping Erick for bringing Darcy?

Soon, normal conversation erupts and the tension eases.

"Darce and I are in the same Government class." Erick explains when Nai asked how they met.

I roll my eyes.

Seriously, Darce?!

I never bothered making friends out side my friend's circle, and now htat we have a new member joining us, I know why.

I do not like Darcy.

I was always indifferent about who my friends hung out with or associated themselves with, but now, seeing Erick and Darcy together, makes me sick down to the gut.

I feel annoyed by her presence and every time she speaks, I find myself either rolling my eyes at her or muttering a snarky comment under my breath.

Every now and then, Jas will shoot me a look as if to ask, 'What is he doing?' and I'd merely glare at him.

Erick whispers something into her ear and she giggles.

I roll my eyes and huff.

Why is he flirting with her?
