E R I C K D I A Z ' S P O V:-
"Let's stop now." I tell Darcy.
She lets go of me and walks away, probably to her friends.
I look around the room for Jesy.
I spot Kyle, but not Jesy.
Where is she?
Just a minute ago she and that douchebag were dancing together.
The sight of them dancing makes me annoyed.
Why did he have to lay his hands on her?
Why did he have to dance so close to her?
"Looking for her?" Jas asks.
I whip my head to face her.
I don't even need to ask to know she's referring to Jessica.
"Was I that obvious?" I ask.
She shrugs.
"Whenever you're talking about her or thinking about her, you get this special look in your eyes that you don't give anyone else." She says observantly.
My cheeks turn pink.
Is it my fault I'm so attracted to her?
Who wouldn't be?
She's smart, confident, beautiful, arrogant and fun to be around.
"What are you doing?" Jas asks, shaking me out of my thoughts.
"What do you mean?" I ask, confused.
"Why are you trying to make her jealous by hanging out with Darcy? I know you don't like Darcy the way you like her." She says.
I shrug, trying to act indifferent.
Her cold blue eyes fix upon me in a glare.
"Diaz, don't try to act smart with me. I know you like Jesy. Quit making her mad and instead make her happy." She says.
"That would be easier to do if she didn't hang out with Swenderson so much." I say bitterly.
"His name's Swenson. You started it, you know? She doesn't like Kyle. Trust me. She likes you. All night she's been complaining about you dancing with Darcy and not her. She's pissed." She says.
Jesy is jealous of Darcy being with me?
Who knew?
"She rejected me first." I say, remembering the first time I asked her out.
Jas sighs.
"Erick, I don't know how much Jesy told you about Corbyn, but he hurt her. He cheated on her and made her feel worthless. She was a very different person before you came into her life. He broke her. She was a sobbing mess for days. I was her shoulder to cry on. Put yourself in her shoes for once. She lost a sister, someone she looked up to a lot. Her father walked out of her life, and her a$$hole of a boyfriend cheated on her. Think about it. Relationships come with responsibility. Sure, she may like you, but do you really think you'd be ready to handle those responsibilities if you were in her place?" She asks.
My face softens as I take in everything she says.
If I lost an older sibling, lost a father, and had someone cheat on me, would I be reayd ofr a relationship merely six months after all that drama?
"You're right." I say.
"Of course, I am. Now you two lovebirds need to sort things out by talking. Not making each other jealous. Go find her and talk to her." She says, pushing me towards the entrance.
"but where is she?" I ask.
Before she can answer, the door swings open and Jesy walks into the hall with Andrea by her side.
Instead of walking towards us, she walks up to...Marcus?
She has an angry and determined look on her face as she drags him up on stage with her.
Confused, everyone in the room quiets down immediately, waiting for her to speak.
Jesy has always held a lot of power in this school.
I've noticed that people rarely challenge her, and those that make the mistake of doing so, get humiliated.
Someone hands her a mic.
Her royal purple dress matches her personality so well.
Beautiful, yet dangerous.
Her earrings glimmer in the light, twinkling back at me.
Her luscious lips are deep red in color and her finger adorns a large ring to match her earrings.
She looks breathtakingly gorgeous up close.
"Good evening, Foxfire. I'm sure I don't have to introduce myself, as most of you know me as the Volleyball team captain, Jessica Lopez. Tonight, this formal was planned with the mindset of everyone having a good time. My friends and I were dong exactly that, with their dates, of course, until Andrea Weber's boyfriend, or should I say ex boyfriend?" She asks, glaring at Marcus.
Ex boyfriend?
What has he done now?
Her smoldering gaze is enough to make anyone feel guilty.
"Let's go with ex. Until he decided that it would be fun to play with her feelings. Marcus is a dirt bag, who has the audacity to flirt with other girls, in front of his own girlfriend. Andrea here, had made the mistake of falling for his act. His charm, his good looks and over all romantic behavior. Of course, she cannot be blamed for that. She made the mistake of trusting him. This douchebag, not only played her, but also cheated on her. Today, he was caught making out with another girl whilst still in a relationship with her. Now tell me, how low is that? How low is it when someone puts their trust in you, yet you still break it? Here's some advice for all of you: Think twice before deciding to date someone. Don't go for someone with no morals like our dear friend Marcus." She says, and with a tone of finality adds, "I hoped all you cheaters learnt a lesson. Don't commit yourself for something you're not ready for. It only leads to disaster."
Marcus is staring at his shoes like it's the most fascinating thing in the world. His face is red with embarrassment or anger.
Hard to say.
Jesy walks off the stage, with Ann by her side and goes to Marcus. She whispers something to him and walks off, with a smirk on her face.
Marcus says something to Andrea, looking apologetic, but she pays him no heed.
He bends his head down in shame and walks to the exit.
"Jess." I say, when I see her walking in my general direction.
She looks at me and I can tell she's till mad at me.
I feel stupid and ashamed as I walk up to her, still determined to win her back.
"Done with your date, are we Diaz?" She asks spitefully.
I sigh patiently, knowing that I'm in a lot of trouble with her.
"We need to talk." I begin.
