"You have a date?" Mom asks me when I tell her my plans for the evening.

"Jesy has a date?" Jordan asks, butting into the conversation.

I roll my eyes.

"No. I'm just going out with a friend." I say vaguely.

"Who? It's definitely not Jas." Mom says.

Wow, she knows me so well.

"Wait, why can't it be Jas?" Jordan asks her, confused.

"Because then she wouldn't have been so secretive. She would've been straight forward." She explains.

"I'm not being secretive!" I protest.

"I'm thinking it's a boy." She says, ignoring me.

Jordan looks thoughtful for a moment then says, "You know what, I think you're right."

Then he turns to me.

"Which boy is it?" He asks excitedly.

I roll my eyes.

"You guys are going to freak out if I tell you." I say.

"Not unless it's that pretty boy Erick." Mom says.

My eyes widen.

Seriously?

"It's him, isn't it?" She asks, barely hiding the excitement in her voice.

I sigh.

"Yeah."

"Hear that Jordan? Our little Jesy finally got a date! I was beginning to the she scared everyone away." She says.

I roll my eyes.

"I'm so proud of you, Jesy." Jordan says dramatically.

How did I end up with such comical parents?

I snort.

"You guys are acting as though I just got married. It's not even a date! We made a bet last week to pass time and he won. His prize is that he gets to take me out somewhere. That's it. We're just hanging out as two friends." I explain, putting emphasis on the word friends.

My words barely registered in them.

They kept smiling at me like sappy idiots.

I get up from the couch and head upstairs to my room, before I can get congratulatory gifts and bouquets from them.

At around 6, I change into a plain white tee and blue jeans.

My phone pins with a message.

It's a text from Erick.

Lucifer:- Hey, sorry for the change in plans but can you bring your swimsuit and sandals?

I groan.

He texts me right when I've changed into my clothes.

I look at the time.

It's 6:20.

I sigh and fish my swimsuit out of my drawer and head to the bathroom to put it on.

It's a simple black one piece suit with thin black straps and no design.

That's why I like it.

It's plain and simple.

Nothing showy, nothing intricate.
