Falling

New York Part 1

Tina shuffled her completed paperwork into a recognised pile and tried to calm her nerves. In less than ten minutes Newt would come in with Jacob and his famous case to collect her then they were going to the department of transportation to collect their port key that will take them to 10 a.m. at the MACUSA transport office.
"You okay Tina?" Abi asked from across the desks
"Yes."
"You sure?" Red began to pry and Tina let out a long-suffering sigh then murmured
"No." Seeing them both urging her to continue she began "I'm going to New York to empty mine and Q-Q-u-ueenies old apartment" Abi and Ree both nodded in understanding because after a briefing where Theseus informed them that they'd have to brush up on their occlumency due to a legilimens being on the other side. Tina had managed to hold it together long enough to get to the ladies bathroom back before completely breaking down. The other two Aurors had followed her worried and she had told them everything that had happened in Paris through choked sobs. Well, almost everything, she skillfully avoided any Newt shenanigans because they were already suspicious of their true relationship and she and Newt were having far too much fun sneaking around, but they still knew the entire situation.
"I'm sure it'll be alright" Abi piped up from her pile of paperwork that was completely blocking her.
"Yeah and if it gets too much you're port keying right? You can just get home instantly in a worst-case scenario" Ree added as he scratched his chin thoughtfully. Tina nodded silently and continued to organise her desk. She had rearranged her quill pot for the third time when a soft-spoken voice came from behind her
"Ready to go?" She jumped in surprise and span round at the sudden disturbance to see Newt smiling shyly at her holding his case in one hand and awkwardly rubbing his neck with the other. Jacob was nowhere in sight though and as she scanned for him she replied
"As ready as I'll ever be"
"Good."He tapped her arm three times (something she noticed he did to offer comfort when they couldn't get any closer) then continued "By the way Jacobs in Theseus' office. I thought him wandering around the Auror department would be less than ideal with all the evidence and magical objects lying around" Tina couldn't help the chuckle that escaped and she replied slightly lighter than before
"Yes that could cause quite the dilemma"
"Shall we" he gestured to Theseus' office and Tina held up a finger before turning to say goodbye to Ree and Abi.
"See you on Monday guys"
"Bye Tina!" They both chorused looking suspiciously between the secret couple and Newts hand still resting on her arm.
"Let's go," Tina said urging them to start walking and Newt eagerly followed.

They walked to Theseus' office to see Jacob asking incessant questions to several bored-looking portraits as Theseus corrected his terminology from time to time while he elegantly wrote something or other on expensive-looking parchment. It looked relatively normal until her eyes travelled to the opposite wall to see a wanted poster, Newts wanted poster, hanging there proudly. Newt had obviously noticed as he turned to Theseus obviously disgruntled and asked
"Theseus what in Merlin's name is this"
"It's your wanted poster Newton" Theseus replied not even looking up
"I know that! Why on earth is it hanging up in your office?"
"Because I felt it incredibly funny that it calls you 'most menacing' and 'extremely dangerous'. I found that the ministry was sent several posters because they were worried you would flee to England. They gave them to me to do what I wanted with them, and I thought my office and our house could do with some decoration" Newt glared at Theseus who just grinned in return so Tina decided that they should get moving before Newt set his creatures on his elder brother
"We need to get going we don't want to miss the port key" Newt pulled out his pocket watch then nodded in agreement and Jacob finally moved away from the portraits to join them in the middle of Theseus' office.
"Of course." Newt agreed and they began to leave. They said their goodbyes over their shoulder and Newt added on the end
"If I come back and my Wanted poster is all over our house I'll kill you Thee" Tina just rolled her eyes and pushed him through the door towards the lift.
