She stops and lets Connor get off. She shifts and makes a small fire. “Should I go hunting or do you think we are ok?” Panthera asks, sitting down. “Could you hunt? We’re almost out of food.” Connor asks. Panthera nods and shifts mid-run. She hunts for a while, but only catches one small deer. She heads back to camp. Once she gets there and Connor sees her, his face lights up. Panthera gets a weird feeling but she pushes it aside. She starts to cook the food when she sees something out of the corner of her eye. She looks towards it and it disappears. She assumes it's just the fire’s reflection. She goes back to cooking the food. At nightfall she shifts into a panther and lets Connor and Katy sleep against her fur. She waits until the moon is high in the sky before she gently goes out of underneath Katy and Connor and runs to the house. She shifts and knocks on the door. Candance opens it and looks surprised. “Come with me, I'll show you where Connor is.” instantly Candance brightens up and throws on a jacket before following her. Panthera shifts into a panther and Candance climbs on. She runs to the campsite. Candance climbs off and runs over to Connor. Panthera shifts into a human and picks up Katy. “Thank you.” Candance says. Panthera nods and shifts into a panther after wrapping Katy up. She picks Katy up and runs off. She doesn't want to be there when Candance wakes up Connor. After 10 minutes of running she hears Connor yelling her name. She runs faster and faster until she can't hear it anymore. There she shifts into a human and falls to the ground crying. “Panthera!” Connor yells again. “She's gone Connor.” His mom says. “No, she left to get food for Katy.” he said, trying to convince himself. “Connor-” “No! She's coming back, she has too.” Connor says. Candance hands Connor the note Panthera wrote. He starts crying after he finishes reading the note. He runs towards the woods but Candance stops him. “Let me go!” “I can't, she didn't want us to follow her!” Candance says. “Why not?” Connor asks, turning to face his mom. “She told me to make sure you didn't follow her because she wanted you to have a normal life.” his mom tells him, letting go of him. “She is my normal,” he says. “I have to find her, I love her.” Connor says. His mom looks sad and Connor hugs her. “I promise I'll come back once I find her.” Connor says. He runs into the woods, leaving Candance behind. He runs for a while before he starts calling her name out. Panthera doesn't hear him because she’s asleep. He keeps running until he sees her curled up right next to Katy. He doesn't want to wake them up so he walks over quietly and lays down next to her.
