Chapter Four

Panthera didn’t freeze because she had run out of the room before he changed. The ice followed her down the hallway but as she shifted into a panther and jumped down the stairs, the ice stopped. At the bottom of the stairs, she looked back up. The ice had frozen and was no longer moving. She slowly made her way back up to the second floor. She shifted into her human form and touched the ice with her hand. Once she realized that ice wouldnt do anything, she ran down the hallway back to the room. She ran into the room and Connor was gone. She changed into a dragon and gently and carefully unfroze everyone with her fire. She unfroze her parents first and they looked terrified. She slowly lowered her body to the floor and looked up at them. After a second she saw recognition in their eyes and she stood up. She walked over to her bed and carefully unfroze the bobcat. She changed into a human and picked up the bobcat and brought it outside. She put the bobcat down and backed up. She looked at her leg and back up at Panthera before running into the woods. “Be careful.” she whispered. She turned and saw her parents and they both walked up to her. “Please find Connor.” Her mom said. Panthera could see the desperation in her eyes. Panthera nodded and ran off. She shifted into a dragon and flew off, searching for Connor. Panthera flew for a few hours before she saw something. There was ice in a clearing in the woods. She flew down and landed in the clearing, changing into a human. “Connor?” she yelled into the clearing. She didn't hear anything and started to lose hope when Connor appeared through the tree line. She ran over to him but he pulled back before she could hug him. “Please don't! I don't want to hurt you.” He said. She looked at him and saw the fear in his eyes. “You wont hurt me.” she said quietly. He didn't move when she took a step closer. She took another step and he didn't move. “I'm going to help you.” she said, taking another step. “Let me help you.” she said, holding out her hand. He looked at her hand then back up at her. He slowly placed his hand into hers and she gently pulled him closer. She hugged him and he hesitated before hugging her back. “We have to go home.” she said once she pulled back. He nodded and she shifted and flew up but he didn't. She looked down and saw him. She flew down and shifted again. “What's wrong?” she asked. “I can't change, that's why I didn't come back.” he said, looking at her. Panthera changes into a panther and bends down. Connor climbs on her back and she starts running.
