Chapter Thirty Three

Panthera wakes up the next morning and there's sounds downstairs. She turns into a kitten and slinks downstairs. She slinks around the corner and Candance and Connor are there. She sighs and shifts to a panther. “Oh my lord! Don’t do that.” Candance says. Panthera laughs and Connor chuckles. Connor runs over and throws his arms around Panthera. “I missed you!” he says. Panthera laughs and wraps a paw around his back, hugging him. Panthera lets out a playful growl. “They moved the funeral to an earlier date so we could come home earlier.” Connor says, pulling back and walking off. Katy starts crying and Panthera walks over, sniffing Katy. Katy stops crying and starts petting Panthera. Panthera chuckles to herself while Katy starts running her tiny fingers through Panthera fur. Candance lays Katy down on the ground and Panthera lays next to her. Katy crawls over and plays with Panthera. Connor watches, smiling. Candance starts cooking when there's a knock at the door. Panthera head shoots toward the door and she gets worried. Candance walks to the door and opens it. “Oh hello witch.” Candance says. “Please, call me Amethyst.” the witch replies. “Ok Amethyst, what are you doing here.” Candance says. Amethyst looks at Panthera and Candance walks over and grabs Katy. Panthera stands up and walks to the door. Amethyst walks out and Panthera follows. Amethyst and Panthera walk into the forest before Panthera shifts. “You need to let me bring back Connors memories of you.” Amethyst says. “What? No!” Panthera says. “I can sense something bad coming and he's going to see you shift so you might as well.” Amethyst says. Panthera sighs and nods. Amethyst waves her hands and Panthera hears Connor call out her name. “See you soon Panthera.” Amethyst says, disappearing into smoke. Panthera shifts into a cat and runs home, jumping through the trees. Connor runs out the front door as Panthera comes out of the woods. “Panthera!” Connor calls out. Panthera shifts, looking down. “Panthera!” Connor yells happily, throwing his arms around her. Panthera stands there and lets him. “Why did you do it?” Connor asks, pulling back. “Because I wanted you to be able to live a normal life.” Panthera says. “I forgive you because I love you.” Connor says, hugging her again. “I have something to show you.” Panthera says. Connor pulls back and Panthera backs up. Panthera closes her eyes and shifts into a wolf. “Woah!” Connor says. Panthera trots over with her tail between her legs. “When did you learn to do that?” Panthera shrugs and shifts into deer. “What about an eagle?” Connor asks. Panthera shifts and Connor laughs as Panthera flies around him. She shifts into a fox and lands next to him. He smiles and laughs. Panthera shifts into a cat and jumps up on him. He laughs and holds her. She twists her body and he lets go of her. She shifts into a bear and he backs up. She shifts into a dog and he runs in circles around him. She shifts into a human and Connor throws his arms around her. “I love you.” he says. Panthera hugs him and smiles. “I love you too.”
