Chapter Eighteen

Panthera doesn't sleep that night. She stays awake, watching over Connor and Katy like she has every night. That night she thinks about how she could get Connor to go and live a normal life. She gets an idea and shifts. She flies off to go find a witch. She finds one a few hours later. They talk for a while when Panthera pops the question. “Can you make someone forget about me?” the witch takes a moment to answer. “I can but are you sure?” Panthera nods. “There's this boy and he loves me and I love him but he's human and I'm a shapeshifter. I want him to have a normal life with an amazing human woman but he wants me. I've tried to leave but he always finds me.” Panthera explains. “Well then let's go.” the witch says. They get back and Connor walks out on their conversation. “You're going to make me forget you?” Connor asks. Panthera jumps and turns to him. “It's the only way.” Panthera says. “No! I won't let you!” he yells. The witch snaps and he gets stuck in place. “Please just do it.” Panthera says to the witch. “Fine.” She says. She starts mumbling something. Panthera walks over to Connor. “I love you Connor.” she says. She lets a tear fall before giving him a quick kiss and running off. She didn't want to be there when it happened. She keeps running for a while before someone steps in front of her. Panthera tilts her head and the girl does too. Panthera shifts and the girl smiles. “Hi Panthera.” the girl says. “How do you know my name?” Panthera asks. “Im Artemis. Your sister.” the girl says. “I didn't know I had a sister.” Panthera says. Artemis waves her hands and a picture appears in front of Panthera. It's a picture of Pantheras mom with another baby girl in her arms. The baby was cold, and lifeless, with white skin. “Did you die?” Panthera asks. Artemis nods and Panthera walks up to her. Panthera tries to place her hand on Artemis’s arm and she goes through her. “So how can I see you if I’m alive and you're dead?” Panthera asks. Artemis shrugs and smiles. “I'm glad I can.” Panthera says. Artemis smiles bigger and waves her arms again and something else appears. “You can go back now.” Artemis says. The picture is now a vision. Connor and his parents are leaving while they all look very confused. Panthera lets out a choked sob before turning and running. She shifts mid run. She gets back to the house and the witch is still there. “Thank you.” Panthera says. The witch nods and disappears. Panthera walks inside and Leon runs up to her and gives her a hug. “I'm so sorry.” he says. Panthera pulls back and grabs Katy and walks up to her room. She walks in and shuts the door. She lays Katy down before shifting. She sniffs the bed and lets Connors' scent get in her mind. She embraces it and lets it cover her mind. She lets it overpower her before she shifts back and grabs the blankets. She goes and washes them. The whole while, she lets his scent stay in her mind. Nicky walks out and helps while Leon watches from his room through the window.
