Panthera and the Ghostly Sister ✓

Chapter Twenty Three

Panthera runs outside with Katy and shifts. Katy is dangling in her mouth in a blanket and she runs to Connors house. She sniffs the air and Connor is gone. She gently sets Katy down on the ground and shifts. She knocks and picks Katy and the note up. Candance opens the door and looks confused. Panthera hands her the note and Candance reads it. “Oh.” she says after she finishes the note. “I was wondering if, since I can't give this baby a good life, that maybe you could. Since I'm already always here for Connor.” Panthera says. Candance nods and Panthera hugs her. Candance takes Katy and there is a noise behind her. Panthera shifts and Connor walks out of the woods. “Oh, hello Luna. What are you doing here?” Connor asks. Candance tells Connor that Luna had found a baby in the woods and brought it there. “I knew you were amazing!” Connor says, throwing his arms around Panthera. Panthera smiles and so does Candance. Katy reaches toward Connor and Connor pulls away from Panthera. “What is she doing?” Connor asks. “I think she wants you.” Candance says. Connor takes Katy and smiles. “Panpher!” Katy says. Connor and Candance cheer for her and praise her. Panthera backs up and runs off. Connor watches her go but he lets her. Panthera runs and runs. “I have to get away from here.” Panthera says to herself. She runs for days until she is far enough away that she can't even see either of the mountain ranges. She stops and hunts, getting a deer and she eats it raw. A mountain lion walks up to her and challenges her. She lunges at him, letting her panther instincts take over.
