Once Lost Hard to Gain Back

Summer Part 3

Sirius said "Well lets start with what we know even if its not pleasant to any of us." James said "Well we know he takes after Lily." Sam said "Not only her eye color but eye sight. He has her nose and her mouth. Her kindness and loyalty. You think mom should have been in Hufflepuff and not in Gryffindor." James chuckled he said "She was also fierce a force to not mess with. He also has her smile. The few times I've seen it its just like hers. He is a seer." Sirius chimed in with "He is smart." Remus said "Yes I graded him fairly and he always had top marks he easily the smartest in his year." James said "I couldn't grade his papers since I am his father. The person that did grade them always gave him top marks." Samuel said "He loves snakes, he doesn't like Hagrid though. He loves unicorns. He is probably one of the only men that can touch a unicorn."

the adult males looked at Sam. Sirius said "Sam how do you know that." Sam said "After Christmas break when I was trying to figure out how to apologize to Harry I watched him. He would go to the edge of the forbidden forest and he would wait. One by one the herd of unicorn would come out and Harry would pet them. He seemed to be talking to them as well. I don't know if he was talking about his day or what but the unicorns stayed and they allowed him to even ride them." James said "Oh wow that is great. He a great flyer and great seeker." They all noticed his flying skills. James said "I think a lot of his special rules came from me catching him doing something then deciding that he wasn't aloud to do it. I remember when he was about eight I think we had came home from a day at the Weasley's and he was flying. He did a Wonski Fient perfectly. I at first thought wow amazing then I got scared that he would hurt himself since there was no adult around then I told him to never fly again."

Sirius said "I remember that he scared all of us adults and we then punished him for it. We never saw him fly again. I don't think I saw him on a broom again till his first quidditch match. Which I was shocked how he ended up as a seeker on the house team first year." Remus said "I know how he ended up on the team he caught Nevelle before he could land on the ground after his broom went haywire. It happened before Madame Hooch could do anything." Sam said "I don't blame him for hiding the fact he was the hufflepuff seeker till his first game. What would have happened before the game. He would have been beaten." James sadly said "I abused him so much when I should have been loving and caring for him. I beat him for making a friend I beat him after his first game and told him to quit and that he wasn't allowed to fly a broom."

Sirius said "I'm glad that he didn't quit the team. I think that at times he decided that being beaten was better then listening to the demands we gave him. Like telling him to not make friends and telling him to not be on the team. We even abused him for not making it into Gryffindor. Since when do we care what house the boys are in that it become a punishment." Remus said "Since we forgot about the happiness of a little boy that we should have loved the whole time but instead treated worse then a house elf. We treated him horrible. I can't remember all the times I told him it would be better if he died or that he should die." Harry had woken up a little bit ago and he wasn't ready to move. Harry started to move out of his father's arms. He had to use the bathroom. His father griped Harry tighter. He didn't want to let Harry go. Harry whispered "Daddy I'll be back but I got to go to the bathroom." James let Harry go. He quickly went to the bathroom. Why he was in there Sirius said "Where did Harry go in such a hurry." James said "It doesn't matter he'll be back shortly." Harry came back when he was done and crawled back into his daddy's lap.

Once settled on his father Harry whispered "I need positive touches. I've been craving them since I was five. I had about given up on getting any from you all." James heart hurt and his eyes widen as he realized that he's been denying his son things as simple as a hug. The rest noticed as James eyes widen with what Harry whispered to him. James mouthed he hasn't done this or any positive touch since he was five. This made all of them widen their eyes as they too come to realize what all they did to deny him things. That Harry might be clingy for some time trying to soak up positive treatment. Harry may even think for some time that this is a dream and will disappear when he wakes up. It would take some time for them all to a just. As they eat dinner an owl with white spots that everyone recognized. It was the Longbottom family owl. Empress dropped a letter off next to Harry. Harry gave the bird some meat off of his plate then the owl flew off. This indicated that she didn't need a reply. Harry opened the letter to read what Nevelle had to say. The letter stated :

Dear Harry,

How are you hope things are ok with you. Just a heads up my mum, dad and I will be coming over tomorrow around noon. Mum and dad need to talk to your dad so I thought we could hang out why they talked. That is as long as I don't get you into trouble.

Your Friend,

Nevelle.

The family was looking at him expecting him to tell them what the letter said. Harry finally got his courage to speak. Harry said "It seems that tomorrow at noon the Longbottom's are coming over. It seems that Nevelle would like to hang out why his parents talk to daddy." after eating they decided to go to bed. Before they did though James said "Harry Bambi I think we should move you into an actual bedroom and not the small storage room your in now. What do you think about that?" Harry beamed and said "I would love to do that daddy." they went up to the room and grabbed the little things he had and moved him to one of the bedrooms that had a bathroom attached to it. He quickly got ready for bed in the hand me down pj's and they noticed that all of his clothes was old clothes from Sam. This made their hearts hurt as they realized that he didn't have his own clothes. Sirius said "Hey Harry pup why don't we go shopping and get you new clothes tomorrow? We can go before noon." Harry was tired and just nodded. He was thinking I get my own clothes that fit me. I must be dreaming. If I am I don't want to wake up.

The next morning Harry and Sirius got ready to go. The rest decided that it would be good bonding time for godfather and godson. The two made their way into muggle London. They ended up in a store where they had a bit of everything. Harry found several t-shirts with sayings and pictures from Disney moves on them. He picked out some jeans and shorts along with a couple pairs of shoes. After that they headed to Diagon alley where the picked up some robes for both casual ware and formal. They had an hour before the Longbottoms arrived at the manor so Sirius decided to get Harry a treat. They went into Florence Ice cream parlor for some ice cream. Harry got a triple scoop in a waffle cone with mint chocolate chip ice cream. He found a place to sit as they eat their food. Harry and Sirius talked as they eat their ice cream. After eating Harry asked if they could go to the book shop.

Sirius agreed and they went to the book shop. After the book shop it was time for them to go home. Harry put his clothes away and put on at-shirt that had a picture of four characters and the top said The Black Cauldron and a pair of black ripped jeans. He also had a pair of black socks that said love to be bad on them. Once dressed in his new clothes he made his way down stairs to the floo to meet Nevelle.  A few minutes later and Nevelle stepped out of the floo then fallowed by his parents. Once greeting Mr. and Mrs. Longbottom the two boys headed to the potter library. Nevelle giggled when he saw what Harry's socks said. Harry said "What's funny Nev." Nevelle said "Your socks they lie there is no way your bad. Your the kindest and most nicest person I know." Harry laughed too. They talked and read for awhile. Harry asked "Nev do you want to play exploding snaps with me." Nevelle said "Of course Harry."

   It wasn't much but it made Harry wonder if he would be in trouble and if he was going to be punished from what he did catch it sounded like they planned to hurt him. That he deserved it. Maybe it was someone else but he thought they said Harry needs punished. Soon it was time for Nevelle to go. After Harry saw his friend off he decided that he needed to be sure he wasn't going to be hurt. He turned to find his dad. When he turned his dad was waiting for him. James said "Hey bambi did you have fun with Nevelle today?" Harry said "Yeah can I ask you something daddy." James said "Of course Harry what is on your mind." Harry said "As we where headed to get exploding snaps I over heard a bit of your conversation. What I heard was Harry needs punished. Does this mean your going to hurt me and punish me now that Nevelle is gone." James was sad it hurt him to know that he was responsible for the lack of trust and confidence that his son had. James said "Harry I am not going to punish you I am not going to hurt you baby boy. We was talking about something else. When your name was mentioned was us discussing your birthday it is coming up soon." Harry said "Oh well you don't need to do anything for my birthday its not important. Besides you'll do something special for Sam's like you always do."
