"Its you" Colby said
"Its you" Rebecca said at the same tone
"You two know each other?" Georgia questioned as she watched the two people stare at one another in disbelief
"Barely" Rebecca shook her head as she folded her arms across her chest
"You could say that" Colby nodded "Georgia.." He turned to the elder woman "Could you give us a few minutes alone?" He asked
"I'll be right outside.." Georgia nodded as she made her way out of her own office
The door shut quietly behind the woman and Colby watched the redhead stand up from the small wooden chair and she ran her hands through her hair.
"Oh my god.. You" she looked at him "You are the one that is adopting my kid?"
"Last time I checked" Colby nodded "and for the record, I obviously didn't know it was you I was coming in here to meet"
"Would you have changed your mind if you knew?" She asked and he just stared at her "Or would you have abandoned me again?"
"Abandoned you?" He questioned "I didn't abandon you" he shook his head
"You slept with me and when I woke up the next day you were gone without even a note"
"You were drunk, Do you even remember how that night went down?"
"I remember waking up the next morning in my bed alone" she snapped and he rolled his eyes
"You don't have many one night stands do you?" He asked and her jaw dropped
"Clearly not as many as you do" she argued
"Well evidently one of us wasn't just pretending that night" he said
"Oh my god.. are you serious right now?" She asked "How do you even know for sure that this is even your kid?"
"That right there" he pointed at her "If it really wasn't my baby you wouldn't have even asked that" he said "Why didn't you get in touch with me?"
"Hello!" She yelled "You left without ever giving me your number! How the hell was I supposed to get in touch with you?"
It was silent.
So silent.
You could cut the tension in the room with a knife.
"We're not here to place blame on one another" Colby shook his head "We are here for you and I to sign these papers and make it official" he said and she laughed "Why are you laughing?"
"Like I'd give my kid over to someone like you"
"It's technically my kid too sweetheart" he bent down slightly to be eye level with her "Don't make me get lawyers involved and take you to court for custody" he shook his head
"You can't take me to court for placing the baby up for adoption! I haven't signed the final paperwork yet and you haven't signed anything Mr.Lopez" she smirked
"I have rights" he said
"You do not" she shook her head
"Okay" he nodded as he threw his hands up in the air "I'll call my lawyer" he said and her jaw dropped "Do you want me to give you a list of other lawyers since I know your connections over here in the states isn't the best?" He asked and he watched her storm out of the office quickly
Georgia walked in not even ten seconds after Rebecca left the room and looked to Colby with wide eyes.
"I take it that didn't go well" the woman said and Colby shook his head
Colby didn't know a lot of things. He didn't know how this was going to play out, he didn't truly know what his rights were and he didn't know how big of a battle this was really about to be but he did know one thing.. he was going to fight like hell.
