Three weeks after getting a positive pregnancy test, or twelve.. Rebecca found herself sitting in the same doctor's office she sat in the first time.
She called her doctor immediately the following morning after finding out she was pregnant and they sent her for blood work at the hospital to confirm the pregnancy and scheduled her appointment for three weeks later.
She was 8 weeks pregnant by the math she did in her own head based off dates and today was a big appointment, she would have an ultrasound to confirm everything was going well, and to determine her due date which once again based off her calculations would be sometime in November.
Rebecca read through the emails on her phone and responded to a few, she wasn't supposed to be stressed out over work and she knew Colby would be getting onto her for it but right now she had to find something to take her mind off the nervous feeling that was almost overwhelming her.
She was called back fifteen minutes later by a nurse carrying a clipboard and writing down a few things with each exam she performed.
"How have you been feeling lately dear?" The middle-aged woman asked
"Tired" Rebecca nodded "but that could just be from my job" she shrugged it off "and nausea is starting to hit hard lately"
"That is a good sign" the nurse nodded "I know it doesn't seem like it but that tells you that baby is healthy and still there"
"I'll take it" Rebecca nodded "even though I hate it at the time, if it something that lets me know the baby is okay I will go through it everyday if I have to"
"You're here alone today.. is there anyone that will be joining us?" The nurse asked as there was a knock on the door and Rebecca saw Colby walk through the door
"Please tell me I made it in time" he said
"You're just in time" the nurse nodded with a smile as Colby walked over to Rebecca and grabbed her hand
"How did you get here? You have a meeting.." Rebecca shook her head
"They won't start a meeting without me" he shook his head "and I told you, our family is number one priority always" he kissed her head
The lights were turned off in the room and the screen was turned on as the doctor was now sat in the stool next to the exam table and staring at the monitor in front of her.
"This whole thing is your uterus" she explained as she motioned around the area with a circle "and this right here in the middle that looks like a small gummy bear is your baby" she zoomed in on the tiny gummy bear and Rebecca looked over at Colby with a small smile as his eyes were glued on the screen
"Thats amazing" he said in a whisper as he kissed her hand he was holding tightly
"Its so little.." Rebecca said
"It is measuring at half an inch which is right on track for where you're measuring for eight weeks and two days.. to put that in perspective a little more it is the size of a kidney bean"
"Its a little bean" Colby smiled "Our little bean"
"You see this little flicker here in the middle.." The doctor pointed at the monitor with her pen "That is your baby's heart beating"
"Its so fast" Rebecca said in a whisper as she watched the tiny flicker intensely
"Lets see if baby will let us hear it shall we?" The doctor looked to the expectant parents and they nodded
The silent room was now even more silent as they waited with bated breath and after a few seconds there was a tiny thumping that gradually got louder, it sounded like a horse galloping through the room.
Colby and Rebecca's eyes met as they listened to the heartbeat and Colby reached over to wipe the tear away from Rebecca's cheek as it fell from her eye and he leaned down to kiss her head.
"You're beautiful" he said kissing her once more "We made that" he said looking back at the monitor
"Heart beat sounds great 152 beats a minute which is right where it needs to be for this stage" the doctor nodded "Based on the measurements and everything I've seen today as long as things keep going in this direction you two will be having a little one joining you in about 7 months.. more specifically November 17th is your due date officially.. baby could always join you before that or after that time" she explained
Rebecca got dressed as Colby waited for her after the appointment was over, she walked back into the exam room to see him staring at the multiple photos they got printed off and she smiled at him.
"Crazy huh?" She asked and he looked up from the photos to her as she walked over to him and grabbed the pictures from him
"Amazing" he nodded "this little tiny thing is going to change our entire lives"
"November 17th" she smiled as she looked at the pictures
"Oh god' he said and she looked up at his face that was shocked
"What?" She asked concerned slightly at his concerned face
"We are in so much trouble" he said shaking his head and she looked at him confused "You're stubborn as hell..I'm even more stubborn" he said with a nod "this baby is due November 17th" he said
"And?" She asked still clearly confused
"Its gonna be a Scorpio with two very stubborn parents" he said with wide eyes "We're in trouble"
