Two months later...
It was now March in the town of Davenport.. a lot had happen in those two months..
Brandon had been sentenced in the two months and was sentenced to 15 years in the state prison with no possibility of parole until that time was served.
Ron had passed away a few days after Brandon's sentencing which meant Colby was now in charge of the company.
With being in charge of the entire company that meant Colby's days were spent working longer days than usual, he had put everything else in his life on the back burner because he needed to make sure the company that was in a strange transition period was going to be okay.
Rebecca had finished her school year earlier than usual and was now fully employed with Lopez Enterprises.
It had been a long day when Rebecca walked into Colby's office as she walked up behind him and began to massage his shoulders gently and he smiled at her presence.
"Are you ready to go home?" She asked quietly
"I have to finish up this paperwork first" he said and she nodded as she moved around to sit on his lap "How is this supposed to help me get any work done?" He asked with a laugh
"Motivation.." She whispered in his ear and he placed a kiss on her lips
On the way home, the car ride was silent as Colby drove through the streets and he looked over at Rebecca who was playing with his hand that was on her thigh. She was quiet, too quiet almost.
"Can I ask you a question?" She asked in a whisper and he looked over at her then back to the road in front of him
"Anything" he said with a small nod and he felt her take a deep breath, what was on her mind?
"What do you think the baby would have been? Boy or Girl?" She asked and his eyes met hers for a split second
"It didn't matter to me what it was.. son or daughter, I would have been happy with either" he was being honest
"That was the easy answer" she looked over at him through her eyelashes
"Girl" he answered "I hoped it was a girl"
"Why?" She looked over at him
"To shake up the company a little bit" he nodded "This company has only ever been ran by men.. can you imagine a woman coming into the CEO role?"
"She would have shaken the whole damn business" Rebecca nodded with a small smile
"She still can" he said and Rebecca looked at him "there's nothing saying we can't have have a daughter in the future"
"When?" She asked "When would you want that?"
"Whenever you want.. if you want to start trying tonight we can" he nodded "If you want to wait for little bit.. we can do that too"
"I hoped for a boy" Rebecca nodded "Can you imagine a mini version of you?"
"We'd be in for a lot of trouble if we have a son that's anything like me.." He shook his head with a laugh "What made you think about this now anyway?" He asked and she shrugged and became quiet once again "Hey.." He lifted her chin with his finger "What is it?"
"I'm late"
