Colby sat behind his desk as he watched his wife present her pitch to him; this was one of the most important pitches of their lives.
"What's your proposition?" Colby questioned as he folded his arms across his chest as stared at his wife, he was challenging her, and she knew he was doing it on purpose
"My what?" CJ looked up at his mother, confused as he stood next to her
"Proposition," Rebecca looked down at him. "Tell Daddy why you should get a new bed," she said, and the little boy nodded and looked at his father
"I want it," the little boy shrugged, and Colby laughed as he stood up
"CJ," he shook his head. "If I got you everything you've ever wanted, we would need a new house," he said as he walked over to him
"You gotta be more convincing" Rebecca nodded as she pushed her son slightly. "He's a tough person to sell to," she said, and her son looked down at his feet, defeated with a huff, and Rebecca smiled at her husband as he moved to crouch down in front of him
"Is my son giving up?" He asked as his little boy's eyes met his, and his little shoulder dropped. "Alright.. come here," he said as he stood up and placed his son in the chair behind his desk before moving to stand where his wife stood. "Let me show you how you pitch something," he said
He watched Rebecca sit down on the sofa and look over at her little boy that looked so tiny in that giant office chair behind his father's desk.
"If you are going to run this business one day, you've got to know how to pitch ideas to me," he said, and his son's eyes observed him. "So you want this new bed, even though your mother and I just bought you a new bed last year" Colby paced back and forth. "You want this new bed because it is in the shape of a race car, is that right?" He asked as he came to a halt and looked at CJ. His son nodded "and if you get this race car bed, you will sleep better because you can have better dreams," he said, "Which means your mother and I will be able to sleep better because you won't be waking up from nightmares as often, which also means your little sister will sleep better when she gets here because you won't constantly be in and out of our room."
"I don't know about you" Rebecca looked at her son, "but I'm sold" she nodded, and the little boy looked back at his father.
"Sold," the little boy nodded.
"See, you've got to be able to convince people" Colby picked his son up as he sat in the chair and sat him on his lap.
"I've got a feeling we are going to regret this in the future" Rebecca shook her head. "We are teaching him how to argue with us."
