Colby looked over at Rebecca who was laid on the sofa in his office, she was throwing her phone in the air and catching it just before it hit her in the face. He raised an eyebrow as she looked over at him.
"Having fun?" He asked and she shook her head
"Are you not bored?" She asked as she sat up
"I'm working" he said looking back at the papers that were scattered on his desk
"Huh.. what's that like?" She asked
"I sense sarcasm" he said as he continued looking at the papers
"You made me quit my job"
"You were working at a bar"
"And making money on a nightly basis" she argued
"You don't need to be working in a bar, especially since you're pregnant.. you being around a bunch of drunk idiots is one thing but now putting my child in danger.." He shook his head as he looked up at her
"That still doesn't explain why I had to come to work with you"
"I told you.. my dad wants you to learn the business.. and you need to be here if you're going to do that"
"You haven't shown me anything"
He pushed his chair away from the desk and stood up, he walked over to the sofa and sat down next to her, spreading the papers around on the glass table in front of them.
"What the hell am I looking at?" Rebecca questioned
"These are blueprints" he nodded "We've just bought that old warehouse down by the river that they used to make train parts in" he explained
"And what exactly are you going to do with it?" She questioned and he shrugged
"That's what we have to figure out, I've got to come up with a plan and present it to my father in the next few days for him to approve and give the go-ahead before we start whatever construction we need"
"You should make it a kids center" she said and he looked over at her "What?" She asked
"Why would we make it a kids center, a kid doesn't give you money"
"No.." She shook her head "but their parents do" she nodded "Think about it.. you own the entire town.. you're still buying properties and you will be creating more jobs, where are all these kids supposed to go when their parents are working? Down in the bad neighborhood as you called it" she mocked him and he glared at her "Do you want your kid hanging out with the kids that were in the bad neighborhood?"
"Absolutely not" he shook his head
"Exactly.. so wouldn't you want a safe place for the kid to go to where they can do anything.. they can learn, they can develop, they can play without any worry in the world"
"What exactly are you going to school for? Is it debate?"
"No" she shook her head with a laugh "I'm majoring in elementary education" she explained and he nodded
"You need to be the one to pitch this idea" he said and her eyes widened "I'm serious"
"WHY?" She practically yelled
"Because.. you're the one with the teaching degree.. you can persuade him better than I can"
"I don't have a teaching degree yet" she shook her head "I've still got one more semester to go and with this pregnancy Its going to be hard"
"Could just quit and come work here" he shrugged and she rolled her eyes
"I don't want to be anymore attached to you than I have to" she said
