Colby walked into his home, and for the first time in a long time, things were starting to feel normal again.
He and Rebecca had worked on their relationship, and they had decided couples counseling was an excellent place to start.
CJ was in daycare that was a transition for him, but he loved it after the first day.
Maria was back to take on her role as chef, cleaning lady, and a helpful pair of hands anywhere she could.
Trevor and Kent were now back to living in the guest house on the grounds of the Lopez home.
Everything was once again right in the world.
Colby had been working late that night on a new business venture that he was almost positive would bring them a lot more revenue, he had been at work since nine that morning, and at nearly nine at night, he was finally dragging himself through the front door.
"DADDY!" CJ's voice echoed through the house, "DADDY!" He yelled as he saw his father
"What's up, dude? How was your day?" Colby asked as he took his suit jacket off and laid it on the table next to the door
"Come!" He said as he pulled his father's arm impatiently, "Come!" He said more urgently now
"I'm following you.." Colby nodded as the little boy grabbed his hand with both of his tiny ones and was practically dragging him towards the living room
"Mommy sick," the little boy said in a concerned voice
"Mommy's sick?" Colby asked as he entered the living room to see Rebecca lying on the couch, and she gave him a small wave with her hand. "What's gotten into you?" He asked as he sat down next to her
"You got into me," she stated
"Rebecca.." He rolled his eyes and looked over at his son, who was still concerned
"It's just morning sickness" she shook her head
"It's night time" he stated
"Mommy fell asleep, and Maria caught her," CJ said quickly, and Colby's eyes widened as he looked from his son to his wife.
"Did you pass out?" He asked, and he saw her shoulders shrug slightly, and he let out a sigh. "You can't be passing out like that" he shook his head.
"I'm fine," she said
"You're fine?" He asked "CJ" he looked at his little boy, "Is Mommy fine?"
"No," the little boy spoke up with a shake of his head
"See.. you're not fine."
"Just because this pregnancy is rougher than the last one doesn't mean I'm dying."
"No," Colby shook his head, "but it could mean there's more than one in there."
"Very funny" she rolled her eyes.
"Twins do run on my mom's side of the family" he shrugged. "Remember, we thought CJ was going to have a twin at one point."
"That's because that ultrasound tech didn't know how to do her job and said the placenta was another baby," she recalled, "and it gave us both a damn heart attack."
"New baby?" CJ asked as his little eyes lit up, and both Colby and Rebecca looked at one another
"Yeah," Colby said as he grabbed his son and sat him on his lap. "Mommy's gonna have a baby" he looked at Rebecca.
"And that baby is going to be your little brother or sister," Rebecca chimed in, and she saw her son's little mouth fall open.
"My baby!" He said, holding his hands to his chest, "Mine!" He said
"Yeah.. your baby brother or sister" Colby nodded
"No," CJ shook his little head. "My baby," he said
"It's my baby," Colby said, pointing to himself
"No!" CJ folded his little arms over his chest. "My baby!" He argued
"I'm gonna hold the baby first," Colby said
"Me first!" CJ yelled
"Mommy's first," Rebecca chimed in, and her son looked over at her.
"Mommy then CJ," the little boy said
"What about me?" Colby asked
"You last," CJ said, and Rebecca laughed. "Where?" The little boy looked around the room quickly. "Where baby at?" He asked
"Right here.." Rebecca said as she pulled her shirt up, and the little boy stared at her, confused.
"The baby is still really little in there," Colby said as he placed a hand on Rebecca's abdomen.
"But it is gonna grow bigger and bigger, and then It's gonna come out, and you get to hold it and snuggle it," she added, and her little boy climbed over next to her and stared at her abdomen.
"Baby in there?" He asked, pointing to her stomach, and Rebecca nodded
"Yeah.. baby's in there" she nodded, and the little boy leaned down and put his face against her abdomen
"Hi," he said against her skin. "My baby," he said as he leaned back up and then put his ear back to her stomach
"Can you hear anything?" Colby asked as he tried not to laugh
"No," the little boy shook his head "Baby sleeping," he said
"The baby's sleeping?" Rebecca asked
"Shh!" The little boy put his finger to his lips "baby sleeping," he said
"Speaking of sleeping.." Colby said, "You should be doing that too," he said as he stood up and held his arms out for his son, who stood up and jumped into them. "Say night, mommy," he said as he held his son down to kiss his mother quickly
"Night night," he said
"Goodnight, little love"
