One week later...
Kent walked into the Lopez home and was immediately met by the chaos of the situation.
There were clothes everywhere, furniture tipped over and it was dark.
It looked very much different from the usual clean and cheerful home he was used to seeing.
Kent walked through the kitchen and to the backyard to see Colby sitting on the sofa next to the fire pit as he stared at it, it was a blank stare as he took a drink from the beer in his hand.
"Sir" Kent said and Colby's head quickly turned to look at him and Kent could tell in an instant that the man had been crying if not that day, very recently
"What do you want?" Colby asked coldly
"I came to check on you" Kent nodded as he stayed put in his spot next to the door
"Why?" Colby asked with a shake of his head
"Because it's my job to keep you safe and I can't do that if I haven't seen you" Kent stated
"You're supposed to be with Rebecca," he said
"Trevor is with Rebecca and CJ," he said with a nod "I'm here to check on You.. to see how You are doing"
"How do you think I'm doing?" Colby looked over at him "My wife took my son and left me... I haven't seen or heard from either of them in over a week.. my entire life just crashed down around me in less than five minutes"
"I hate to be the one to tell you this.. but you need to hear it and nobody else is going to say anything to you" Kent took a step closer to him "Your wife took your son and left you a week ago because you cheated on her with your secretary"
"One time," Colby said coldly "I slipped up ONE time!" He yelled as he stood up
"One time.." Kent shook his head "You slipped up each time you let her take an article of clothing off" he said "Next thing you're gonna tell me is you slipped up and fell inside of her"
"Kent!" Colby yelled "You're my security not my dad"
"I'm more of your dad to you than your own father ever was," Kent said "and somebody has to call you on your bullshit because you surround yourself with a bunch of yes men that will tell you anything you want to know at any time of the day"
Colby pushed past him, shoulder checking him in the process as he walked into the house.
"You don't think I feel bad enough as it is? I feel horrible! I regret every decision I've made lately!" He yelled as he turned to face Kent once more "My wife left me!"
"As She should have! She should have left you a long time ago with the way you've treated her lately" he said and he felt a fist hit him swiftly in the jaw
The elder man backed away from Colby quickly, it wasn't that he was afraid of him, he wasn't afraid of fighting either.. he didn't want to do something he would regret and truth be told if he had started fighting with the younger man he wouldn't stop until something happened that they both regretted.
"I've come over here to check on you and to see if you needed anything, I have come to be a friend, not your security.. to be the person you turned to multiple times in your life for advice.. but the only advice I've got for you right now is to figure your life out.. figure your shit out and figure out how you're going to fix this entire situation before its too late"
