Rebecca walked out to the back garden to hand her husband the glass of whiskey before laying against his chest on the sofa; the fire was the only glow of light they had.

"Your daughter has your personality," he said with a laugh, and Rebecca looked up at him through her eyelashes. "If she doesn't want to do something, she isn't going to do it" he shook his head.

"That sounds like your personality," Rebecca laughed

"I at least back down," he said, and she lifted her head off his chest

"Back down? Since when have you ever backed down from anything?"

"I back down from you all the time, happy wife, happy life," he said, and she rolled her eyes.

"Your son has your personality," Rebecca spoke up again as she laid her head back against his chest.

"I wouldn't know," he kissed her head "he still refuses to talk to me."

"Why don't you come to his game this weekend? That might be a breakthrough for you two."

"Come to the game and be judged by all the other parents?" He asked

"Come to the game and say fuck you to all the other parents," she said, and he looked at her. "What?" She asked

"Firing people, not backing down from anyone, saying fuck you to people.." He shook his head. "Who are you, and what have you done with my innocent wife?"

"Your innocent wife had to harden up in the years you were gone. People wanted to do nothing but walk all over and take advantage of the poor single mom who had just lost her husband. I had to lose the innocence."

"You lost your innocence a long time ago with me, my love," he said, and she hit his chest with a laugh.

"Colby.." She said quietly

"Hmm?" He kissed her head once more as she looked up at him

"I want to renew our vows," she said, and he pulled back to look at her. "I don't care where or when or who is even there. We can just have us and the kids and a minister for all I care. I want to renew the vows and recommit to you again."

"I'll look into ministers tomorrow" he nodded as she snuggled closer into his chest.

The following day, Rebecca had taken Chase to baseball practice after school while Sawyer came home straight away.

Running up the stairs as quickly as her little legs could carry her. The tiny brunette took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

"Daddy?" Sawyer's little voice was followed by a slight knock on the wooden door of the office in the Lopez home

"Sawyer?" Colby said as he looked over the paperwork in front of him. He put the paper down on the desk when he saw his daughter standing next to the door, fiddling with her tiny fingers.

She got that from her mother. She would mess with her fingers whenever she was nervous and trying to work up the courage for something.

"What's going on, princess?" He asked as he pushed the rolling chair away from the desk and reached out for her with his hand

"I gotta ask you a question," she said shyly, and he nodded, encouraging her to go on. "It's important," she said

"You have my full attention," he said as she walked over to him

"Will you be my date to the daddy-daughter dance?" She asked with her little eyes staring up at him in anticipation, and it melted his heart into a puddle on the floor

"I would be honored to be your date," he said with a nod, and she smiled up at him
