"What if he doesn't like my dress?" Sawyer questioned as she messed with the lavender fabric
"He will love your dress" Rebecca nodded as she twisted a piece of the six-year-old's hair around the barrel of the curling iron
"What if he says my hair is too fancy?" Sawyer continued and Rebecca shook her head as she looked at her daughter in the mirror
"He won't" she stated calmly
"What if I fall because of my heels?" She asked
"He will catch you" Rebecca nodded
"What if my heels break?"
"Then he will carry you" the redhead nodded "Baby, this is your first father-daughter dance, stop worrying about everything that could go wrong and just have fun with your daddy tonight"
"He doesn't dance" the little girl shook her head
"He will dance, for you he will do anything in the world" Rebecca nodded
There was a knock on the bathroom door as Rebecca placed the curling iron on the counter.
"Yes?" Rebecca questioned as Chase poked his head in the door
"There's some dude out here on the front steps talking about picking Sawyer up for a date," Chase said as he placed another chip in his mouth and Rebecca rolled her eyes "Can I beat him up?" He asked as he followed behind his mother quickly
"Be nice" Rebecca said to her son as she walked to the front door
She opened the door to see her husband standing there, fully dressed in his best suit, flowers in hand.
"What are you doing?" Rebecca laughed as she felt her heart melt
"I'm here to pick up my date" he nodded
Chase poked his head out the door and looked his father up and down with a shake of his little head.
"You better have her home before curfew," Chase said
"When is curfew?" Colby questioned
"Right after the juice boxes are handed out" the boy nodded
Colby never thought he would actually get the opportunity to be at a father-daughter dance in his life. Even before he had kids, he was always set on having a son to please his own father, he never thought about things he would be able to do in life with a daughter.
Sitting at the table in the gymnasium of the school, he watched his daughter run and dance around with her friends. He was in awe of his shy little girl, as she effortlessly swayed back and forth, the entire room watching her every move, she was just like her mother in that way. She would be the center of attention without even trying.
Everything else in the world, all of the weight on his shoulders disappeared tonight. He was only focused on his daughter and giving her all of his attention.
Nothing could go wrong.
Right?
Wrong.
It all happened so quickly that Colby didn't even have time to stop it.
He saw a little girl walk up to his daughter, and shoved her, causing his daughter to fall to the floor.
He stood up from the table and began to make his way to the kids when his daughter stood up with a glare, she ran her hands over her dress before shaking her little head and charging at the little girl.
...
Rebecca walked into the school with her son following behind her, she made her way to the front office and was met by her husband sitting in a chair, handcuffs on his hands, his daughter sitting next to him with her own pair of cuffs as well.
"What the fuck" Rebecca said without hesitation
"She started it!" The father-daughter said in unison as they pointed to the child in the principal's office with the cops
"Did you beat up a kid?" Rebecca looked at her husband
"Would I ever lay a finger on a child?" He asked with a shake of his head "Your daughter beat up the kid" he pointed to Sawyer
"He beat up her Dad" Sawyer pointed to her father with a nod
"What the hell happened?" Rebecca asked as she watched her son poke his head into the principal's office "Chase!" She called him back
"It's that Regan kid. Jaxon's little sister" Chase walked back to them
"The kid that bullied you for the last two years?" Rebecca questioned and her son nodded
"So the whole family is a problem" Colby nodded and his wife looked at him
"What happened?" Rebecca asked once again
Colby and Sawyer looked between one another, Sawyer pointing at him repeatedly.
"Fine" Colby rolled his eyes "I'll be the adult here," he said to his daughter who nodded
"Lopez," Rebecca said with a glare "Stop stalling"
"Everything was going fine" Colby started "but this Regan girl walked up to Sawyer, started messing with her and saying she can't be at the dance because her dad was in jail and when Sawyer told her that her dad wasn't in jail anymore the kid said she would be better off if he was" he continued "and then she pushed her, I stood up to go break them up but by the time I made my way across the gymnasium Sawyer was already on top of the kid, beating her up and the girl's dad grabbed Sawyer, and nobody grabs my kid" he shook his head "and then the asshole started talking shit to me which I was going to let it go until he mentioned" he looked to his daughter and then to his son "Chase," he said "Earmuffs," he said and the boy covered his sister's ears and Colby looked over to his wife, "He said hopefully with a father back in her life, she hopefully won't be a slut like her mother is"
Chase stood up quickly from his chair and made his way toward the man who was walking out of the principal's office.
The little boy walked up to the man, and quicker than his mother could get to him, kicked him where it hurt the most.
"Chase!" Rebecca grabbed her son by the shoulder
"Maybe you should warn your son not to be an asshole like his father is" Chase stated
"Chase Lopez!" The principal looked at the pupil with a shake of his head
The little boy looked around the office confused, he pointed to himself with a shake of his head.
"I don't know who Chase is" he shook his head "My name is CJ"
