I woke up in the morning with a headache. I looked to my side and saw a tray of pancakes with syrup. I sat up, and took the tray and began to eat. While eating I remembered what had happened before I went ended up in my room.Oh no. I killed a man.
I jumped up from my bed and ran downstairs. I have to get away from this place. I can't be in the mafia if I have to kill people. I killed someone! I was running to the door when someone grabbed me by my waist. "LET ME GO!" I roared. "Calm down tesero. Do you know what I said last time you said those exact words?" He asked. I struggled to get out of his grip.
Lorenzo's way too strong, so I decided I would not fight anymore. He carried me to his office and sat me down on the chair in front of his desk. Lorenzo sat down in his chair and looked at me like he was trying to figure me out.
"Why were you trying to leave?" He asked.
I scoffed. "Lorenzo, I don't know if you've forgotten but I KILLED SOMEONE. I'M A MURDER LORENZO! I need to get away from this place, I need to not be in the mafia!" I said tears trickling down my face.Lorenzo stood up and came to my side and did something I didn't expect. He wiped away my tears and brought his chair beside mine. "Anna, you are far from a murderer. You saved my life, so I thank you for that but you can't just leave. You are amazing at this, and I know that it will get easier from here." He talked.
"It's going to be etched in my brain forever, won't it?" I looked at him. He looked down to his hands and then back up to me. "Yes, but one thing you have to remember is that the man you killed was trying to kill me." He spoke. I nodded my head. He opened his mouth to say something but then closed it again.
"What?" I asked. "The person I killed first was someone I loved very much." He said. I was very intrigued to find out more but didn't want to pry, so I didn't ask about it.
Someone knocked on the door, and Lorenzi told them to come inside. Kate walked towards Lorenzo with a bag, that said happy birthday on it. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY LORENZO!" Kate shouted. It's Lorenzo's birthday? Why didn't he say anything? Kate handed the bag to Lorenzo and stood there waiting for him to open it. "I'll open it later, thanks, Kate." Lorenzo half-smiled. She nodded and exited the room. I turned to Lorenzo and furrowed my eyebrows.
"You didn't tell me it was your birthday. I would've gotten you something." I told him. "I hate my birthday." Is all he said. I looked at him confused. Who could hate their birthday? That's one of the only days a year, I love. "Why?" I asked. He stayed quiet for a while. "It's none of your business." Lorenzo finally spoke up. "But-?" I didn't finish my sentence before he cut me off. "BUT NOTHING. IT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, SO STAY OUT OUT OF IT!" He shouted.
I guess it's something he doesn't want to talk and remember, but shouting at me was not the way to go. I stood up and walked out. "Where are you going?!" I heard him call out. I ignored him and kept walking. I walked upstairs and went to Kate's room. I knocked on the door and entered. "Hi!" She smiled. "Hey," I said. She was sitting on her chair writing something down. "What are you doing?" I asked. "Writing down all of the things I need for Lorenzo's surprise birthday." She said.
