It's been a few days since I crashed my car. I've been avoiding everyone because they keep asking me what happened. They towed my car to my house, and I paid for it to be fixed. I've been training Anna and I can say she's gotten very good. She's gone on a few missions since her last. I knocked on her door and she told me to come in.
"Hi," I said. "Hey." She responded.
She was reading a book, she got from the bookshop in the mall. "What's that book called?" I asked. "Paradise Island." She spoke.
"What's it about?" I asked. "It's about these two YouTube ghost hunters who go to this place with their two childhood friends, hoping to get away from paranormal tuff. What they don't know is that they're at the centre of it all." She described. "Cool," I said. She nodded her head and smiled. She closed the book and directed me to sit on the chair beside her bed. "Lorenzo, what happened when you went on?" She asked. I clenched my fists. "It's none of your business," I said angrily. "Yes, it is. You're my boss, and believe it or not, I actually care about you." She spoke. Does she care about me? I hadn't heard anyone say that in a long time.
My mother had always said that to me whenever I was in a bad mood and wouldn't talk about it. Hearing Anna saying that felt like a cool wind brush on my skin, but I couldn't let her know. "See that's just it, I'm your boss, not your friend," I said. She rolled her eyes. God, why does she do that a lot? She seems to always be annoyed. "Can you stop rolling your eyes?" I asked. "Can you tell me what happened?" She answered. I haven't told anyone because I didn't think it was necessary, but maybe I should. It's not that interesting anyway.
"I left outside because things were getting too deep. I went to the gym to cool off but it wasn't working so I took my car and went to this abandoned place. I drove very fast and my car rammed into a tree. I had no phone so I went to a bar and the bartender was very annoying so I had to be a little nicer." I explained. She looked at me and laughed. I clenched my fists. How is this funny? "Why didn't you tell us that?" She asked, still laughing. "I don't know, because I didn't want to." I shrugged. She shook her head and planted her hand on her face. I laughed. Now thinking of it, I should have just told them. "I just realised I don't know that much about you." She said.
No one knows a lot about me and I like it that way. When people know your strengths, and your weaknesses, they'll always find a way to use them against you. Telling people a lot about me gives them plenty of ways to hurt me. I may seem tough, but on the inside, I'm not and admitting that is probably the hardest thing in the world. I act tough, I say things to act tough, but I'm just broken inside. After losing my mother, I wasn't the same. I felt nothing. I used to feel happy, lively and energetic, but all I feel now is anger. Other than that I'm numb. "Yeah maybe you shouldn't know a lot about me," I spoke.
"Well I want to, so we're playing 21 questions." She told me. This girl just can't take a hint, can she? "Whats 21 questions?" I questioned. "We pick who goes first to answer the 21 questions. You have to answer each question quickly and truthfully." She explained. I thought about it for a second. Do I want to reveal my secrets? Whatever I say, she'll make me play the stupid game. "Fine." I sighed. She smiled and I sat in her bed. "Remember you have to answer these quickly. No hesitating." She spoke. I nodded.
"How old are you?"
"24.""Where were you born?"
"Isn't that obvious? I was born in Rome.""What's your favourite colour?"
"Black, like my soul."She rolled her eyes, and I laughed. Black was my favourite colour, and people did say my soul was black.
"What's your favourite food?"
"I don't know."She looked at me shocked. "How do you not know your favourite food?!" She asked astonishingly. "Because I'm a grow man, not a child," I answered. She hit my arm. "I'm not a child. I'm 19, that means I'm a legal adult." She spoke. "Yeah? Then act like one." I laughed. For some reason, Anna made me laugh a lot. I wasn't the usual type to laugh, but recently I had found myself laughing so much.
"Do you have any siblings?" She asked. I didn't answer because I didn't know how to.
"Lorenzo you have to"
"I DON'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING!" I shouted. She looked stunned that I had just shouted at her. I don't know why though because it was nothing new. I always found a way to get mad. "I asked a question, you have to answer. DON'T SCREAM AT ME BECAUSE I ASKED YOU A QUESTION!" She yelled. I got out of her bed and she followed me. "Where are you going? What, you're going to drive your Lamborghini and ram it into a tree again? You're going to go to a bar and beg for a phone?" She laughed angrily."Maybe I will." I stormed downstairs. "NO, YOU WON'T! You always run away when "things get too deep" or when you don't want to talk but guess what Lorenzo. YOU'RE GOING TO FREAKIN' TALK!" She shouted. I stopped at the last step. She's right. I had always run away when things got too real for me. But why wouldn't I? Why would I want to talk about things I didn't want to talk about? What, because that's the way life is? If I can hide behind a facade, I will. I was contemplating turning back and going upstairs with Anna and explaining why it was confusing with the sibling question, but instead, I went with my head was saying and walked off.
Being in the mafia, there are so many things you have to do. One thing is, roll with your head, not your heart. Going with your heart will get you killed in this world. Feeling things will get you killed in this world. Maybe that's what makes me such a good leader. I don't feel, I roll with my head and I have nothing to lose. My mother's dead, my father's a horrible excuse for a man and my sibling. Well, that's complicated. But see, I have absolutely nothing to lose. If I died no one would miss me, and knowing that is kind of relieving.

Thank you for reading Chapter 16!
This chapter is all about Lorenzo, and the way he thinks. I tried to make Lorenzo not perfect because he's not. He goes through stuff, although he may not show it. I hope this chapter really showed that.Word count: 1157
