The thunder woke me up. I sat up on my bed and checked my phone to see it was 3:00 am. The paranormal hour. I had once woken up at 3:00 am to see if anything weird would happen. It didn't.
I walked out of my room and went downstairs to the kitchen. I didn't know where the glasses were, so I opened every cabinet until I found them. I drank apple juice, while I went on my phone.
I heard noises coming from the room beside the kitchen. I opened it and it was a gym. Lorenzo was punching the punching bag. I closed the door quietly so he couldn't hear it and I watched him. It looked like he was putting all his anger out on the punching bag.
"Hi," I said. He stumbled and nearly fell. I started laughing. Whenever I try to scare someone, I can't but when I happen to walk in and they don't see me, I scare the living crap out of them. Lorenzo didn't seem like the type to get scared, especially since he didn't scream or move when the jumpscares happened. But then again, Lorenzo didn't seem like a lot of things.
"Don't ever do that again." He told me. "Oh, I'm sorry. Next time I'll wait until you see me at the door because that wouldn't be creepy at all." I spoke sarcastically. He rolled his eyes. Lorenzo walked to the bench and took a drink. "Are you okay? You were hitting that punching bag pretty hard." I asked. He nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine. Just some people stole money that we were supposed to collect." He explained. "Oh." That was all I said.
He took a towel and started to wipe the sweat away. I stood there waiting for him to say something. "Why are you awake?" He broke the silence. "I woke up and needed water, and then I heard noises coming from here," I told him. He nodded.
"This might seem crazy because it's 3 in the morning, but do you want to go to the gas station and get ice cream?" I asked. He stared at me in disbelieve. "You want to do that at 3 in the morning?" He answered me with a question. I nodded. "Fine, let me go get changed." He sighed. I smiled and went out of the gym.
I put on an oversized hoodie and waited at the door for Lorenzo. Did it take him 10 minutes to get changed? I decided not to ask and we left the house.
The nearest gas station was half an hour away, so I played some tunes. I sang the songs while Lorenzo complained about how bad my singing was.
"Can you open the window?" I asked. I was starting to get hot in this car, and for some reason, this dude didn't have his a/c on. "Why?" He asked. "Cause, I want to jump out of the car, that's why," I said sarcastically. He chuckled and pressed a button to open the window. "If you want to close it, there's a button on the door." He told me. I hadn't even noticed it. I nodded
I stuck my head out and the breeze felt amazing. The people that would pass in their cars, gave me the weirdest looks but I laughed and brushed it off.
After about the 8th song I had played, Lorenzo insisted that I let him play a song he likes because I have crappy taste in music. That was a lie. My music taste was impeccable. I listen to a lot of 90's music and a little bit of today's music too.
