I felt someone poke me, so I opened my eyes. I immediately squinted until my eyes adjusted to the brightness.

"We're in California." He said.

I smiled.

I quickly got up and he walked out. There was a car waiting for us. Lorenzo gave the driver an address and we went off.

I texted Jessica to tell her I landed in California. I gave her the address we were going to and told her I'll be there in twenty minutes.

Kate and I made small talk until the conversation of California came up.

"Are you excited to be back?" She asked.

"Yeah, I've missed this place but we're not staying so I won't get to visit anywhere anyways," I answered.

She nodded.

"I wish we could but we came here strictly on business," she spoke.

"Mhm," I responded.

It took around twenty-five minutes to get to the location.

It looked like an abandoned warehouse. The brown paint looked faded, and a window looks to be broken.

Before we step out Lorenzo tells us the plan one more time so we're all on the same page.

We step out and I see Jessica running towards me. A smile appears on my face as we hug. At that moment nothing else mattered, almost like no one was there but me and Jess.

A few seconds later, we back away and I look at Lorenzo who is glaring at me.

"Who's that?" He asked angrily.

I don't say anything, hoping that he'll let it go but of course he doesn't.

"ANSWER ME!" He shouted.

Jessica took my hand and pulled me behind her. I knew what she was going to try to do which would only make Lorenzo angrier.

"Jess, don't," I whispered in her ear.

She hesitated for a second before sighing and moving behind me.

"This is Jessica, my best friend." I finally answered his question.

I think I could see smoke coming out of his ears.

I played with my hands while waiting for him to answer.

"Why is she here?" She asked.

I looked up from my hand but decided not to meet with his eyes.

"I told her to come because I wanted to see her," I answered truthfully.

There was no point in lying when he could tell when I was.

I looked from Kate to Mario and they had their heads bent down, not wanting to involve themselves in the matter at hand.
