My alarm rang loudly. I groaned into my pillow. It was my first day at college. Today was just going to be a day to get used to getting around the place. I had to look presentable, so I put on blue skinny jeans with a blue and white blouse. I paired that with white vans.
Walking downstairs, I could smell something lovely coming from the kitchen. The cooks always made luxurious food. I made my way into the dining room and saw Kate and Mario already seated. "Where's Lorenzo?" I asked. I hadn't seen him since the rain incident.
We stayed there for a while until he drove home. We didn't speak on the way home, but it was a comfortable silence.
"He wanted to cook this morning," Mario responded. Out of the weeks I've known Lorenzo, he never once mentioned he knew how to cook. "Why is he cooking?" I asked curiously. "I have no idea." Kaye shrugged.
I sat down opposite Kate and scrolled through Instagram. Mario occasionally told a hilarious joke.
Note the sarcasm.
"Anna, Mario and I are going to watch a horror film tonight. Wanna join?" Kate asked. I loved horror films. The jumpscares were the most funniest thing. I usually found comedy in every horror film I watched. That blocked out the scariness in the movie. "I'm down, what movie?" I asked.
"Were watching Insidious." She spoke. I had seen people talking about that movie online. I heard it's supposed to be scary. "We HAVE to get snacks!" I said. "Obviously. When you get back, we'll go." Mario said. I nodded. We went back to looking at our phones.
Half an hour later, Lorenzo walked in with two stacks of pancakes. I was amazed by the number of pancakes I was starting at. He disappeared back into the kitchen but soon came back out with plates of bacon and syrup. Lorenzo then went and came back with four plates and a jug of orange juice.
"Lorenzo, since when did you cook?" I asked. "Uh, since today." He scratched the back of his neck. I laughed and put two pancakes and some bacon on my plate and started eating.
These pancakes tasted amazing. They weren't as good as the cooks' pancakes but it was a solid second. "Lorenzo, these are amazing," I spoke. "Thanks, I made them because it's your first day of college." He said. I looked shocked. "You didn't have to make me pancakes!" I told him. He laughed. "It's no problem, really." He talked.
"Are you watching the movie tonight?" I asked Lorenzo. He shook his head. "I've got a lot of work to do." He answered. "It'll be a lot of fun! You'll enjoy it." I told him. He thought about it for a second. "Fine." He sighed. I smiled.
We made small talk while eating breakfast. "What time are you coming home at?" Kate asked. "Around 1," I responded. She nodded. "We'll go to the supermarket when you get back," Kate spoke.
When I was finished my breakfast, I looked at my phone and the time was 10 am. "I have to go or else I'll be late." I rushed to the front door. Lorenzo followed after me. "Do you want me to take you there?" He asked. "Sure." I smiled. We got into his car and he drove away.
