"Hello, We were able to stabilise Mr Balotelli." He said. I felt so relieved to hear that sentence. Kate and Mario hugged in happiness. "He'll have to stay here for a couple of days so we can monitor him." The doctor added. "When will he be allowed to work again?" Mario asked. "In about 4-6 weeks." The doctor answered.
Mario nodded. "Can we see him?" I asked. She moved out of the way and nodded her head. Mario opened the door and we entered. Lorenzo looked to see who was coming in, and his face looked confused when he saw us.
"Hi, Lorenzo," I spoke. "Who are you?" He asked. Kate, Mario and I exchanged glances. The doctor never told us that he wouldn't remember us. "We're your friends," Kate said. Lorenzo still looked confused.
"I don't know you." He talked. I could see Kate start to tear up. From the corner of my eye, I could see Lorenzo smirked. I don't think Mario or Kate saw it because they were trying to comfort each other.
I moved closer to Lorenzo's bed and sat on the edge of it. He looked confused as to why I was sitting there. I flicked his forehead and he looked angry. "Anna, that hurt." He said.
Once he realised what he said, he put his hand to his face. "So, you do remember me?" I asked. "No, you just look like my grandma. Her name is Anna." Lorenzo responded. I hit his shoulder, and he didn't flinch.
"You're not supposed to hurt the patient." He laughed. Kate and Mario took a chair from the corner of the room and sat beside the other side of the bed. "That wasn't funny," Kate mumbled. "It kind of was K." He muttered under his breath.
"How do you feel?" Mario asked. "Like crap, considering I got shot." He answered.
We talked about cartoons for about an hour, until I asked Kate and Mario if they could leave because I wanted to speak with Lorenzo privately. They understood and said their goodbyes.
"You're so stupid!" I shouted.
"Calm down, Tesero." He spoke.
I decided to calm down. I took a few deep breaths in before talking again.
"Why did you take the bullet for me?" I asked.
"Why wouldn't I?" He answered.
I glared at him. This was not the time to answer my question with a question. "Come on Lorenzo, you don't like me, you probably hate me so why would you take a bullet for me?" I asked. He sighed and sat up on the bed.
"Because I care about you." He told me.
I couldn't believe I was hearing that sentence come out of his mouth. Lorenzo Balotelli cared about me. Lorenzo Balotelli took a bullet for me because he cares about me. I didn't know what to say. We just stared at each other.
"Thank you." I broke the silence. He nodded and smiled. "Do you need food?" I asked. "No." He laughed. "Are you sure?" I asked. "Yes, I'm sure." He confirmed.
