My body is trembling. This second challenge was designed to be a team challenge. No one should be able to complete it on their own, but here I am, standing at my gate with a heaven scroll in my bag, waiting to compete.
There is no way I can lose. Not to a bunch like these, but I'm still a rookie... How many people have done challenges like this already? Everyone else is on a team, and that makes me an easy target. I prey to whatever god there is to run into those sound ninja. If they don't have an earth scroll so be it, I'll still take them down for good measure. No one gets to embarrass me like that, and I know it isn't a very good thing to be thinking about right now, but the thought of putting them down brings me joy.
The horn blares and the gates open. I kick off and head straight into the forest. I want to get this challenge done with, so this way I can get to safety quickest. My mind thinks back to the group of kids that looked not much older than me, they could be a nice option. Also, the group of cloud ninja seem to be easy targets.
To my right I feel another chakra. I jolt around and sense someone trailing me, and I hope they come out to fight me. If they can't conceal their chakra, they can't be very good at fighting. To just my luck, the cloud ninja comes out from behind a tree and pulls out a katana.
"Where's the rest of your team? Were they too scared?" I tease the girl.
"Actually, I was just hoping to get some alone time with you," returns the girl. She was definitely not bad looking. Her hair was dark and very curly, nothing you'd ever seen in the leaf village. The way it bounced as she stepped was mesmerizing.
"Oh yeah? Why don't you hand over the scroll and we can plan dinner for some time."
"Dinner for this?" she pulls out a scroll from her bag. "I think it would be more fun if we go dancing first."
The girl starts to rush toward me with her katana. My body swiftly moves away and I kick her in the back of the knees. Her body falls forward on the tree branch. The scroll pokes out of her bag and I reach for it. The dark girl moves quickly out of the way and a smirk appears on her face. Then, both her teammates come out from hiding and stand next to her.
"Sorry to crash, as much as I would like to see this battle," one of her teammates says. He looks very similar to the girl, and I wonder if they're related.
The last teammate has orange hair and glasses, "It would have been very exciting, but it looks like you're a tougher challenge than we anticipated."
"Oh come on," I start to say, "three against one still won't be enough for you to take me on."
"Lightning formation!" They all yell and get into a triangular shape. Couldn't they at least get more creative with the name?
All at once they come rushing towards me. Two kunai fly at my head and I duck. They all swing their varying types of swords and I appear behind the three. Without them noticing, I grab the girl and hold up one of my sai to her neck.
"Dinner might have been nice, but I need her scroll. Put down your weapons, and I'll let her live." I propose to the team. All at once, they place down their weapons. My hand grabs the hair of the girl in my grasp and push her to her knees. I navigate my way to their scroll and grab it before putting it in my own bag.
"Nice playing with you guys," I smirk and quickly jump away.
It was lucky for me that they had an earth scroll. Although I'm disappointed I didn't get to get back at the sound ninja, I'm happy this challenge is over. Night was drawing on me and I decided to find a place to sleep. It would be tricky considering there was no one to keep watch, but I find a hollowed out tree trunk and try to conceal myself as best I can.
